Description Ok, I admit I'm rather taking a shot in the dark here, at least when it comes to the meaning of the words

To me Anthropomorphic means a non-human having human traits, while Zoomorphic means a non-animal having animal traits

Either way I don't consider human with animal ears and tails to be animal like enough to be called anthros (same way I don't consider talking or walking animals anthros either)
There's no distinct borderline, I know, but I still don't consider them the same. This is just my opinion however

I like this stamp. xDDD I'll need to sue it when I have the chance.

To reiterate, humans with animal ears/tails/feet and whatnot are known as kemonomimi. Humans with animal-like traits in other words, not vice-versa.

I think you got me lost with the suing part :S

Both names apply and I've seen others as well. As long as it gets the message across that's all that matters to me

I totally agree. You know another name for zoomorphs is called kemono I think.

I've been totally defending that concept for a long time.

Too many furries are drawn as zoomorphic rather than the anthro that they claim to be.

I'm sorry, but when your creature is plantigrade, has a 6 packs, flat shoulders totally human like hands, human anatomy bellow the belt and on the check, but furred, and the only animal parts is the head, extremity, furs and more bulk, well, that's a zoomorph to me.

Woo, I'm not alone

Yeah, I've seen that a lot as well. I think the biggest problem is people not being aware what an anthro and a "zoo" really are, so they have no idea where to draw the limits Xp

Dragoniade In reply to Birvan [2009-03-07 00:28:35 +0000 UTC]

Indeed. While some think zoomorphes are just Egyptian gods (animal head on an human body), some are just unaware of the word. I've been told by a few that I "invented" that word when I tell them that something isn't anthro. But not knowing what a zoo is, they just label everything as anthro.

When I tried to look at the definition of the word I was rather amazed how "restricted" it was to gods and animal shaped objects. Still I was pretty sure it could be applied in this sense

Ignorance can be a huge problem, but going as far as call that word an invention..... clearly some people never used a dictionary > >
