Description
messing around with my tablet, trying to get a feel for line art using the models. Not a great job, have to learn how to use the tools to help do clean lines where the nerve damage makes it difficult for me. But could have gone worse considering how little actual practice I've gotten in since I got it what not even 2 weeks ago, due to IRL keeping me from being able to work for sundry reason, a good chunk of that time. Also have to remind myself.. I'm going to suck for a while, This is an entirely new thing for me. And by suck, maybe the quality is only a little worse, but I'm going to suck at utilizing the tablet to get BETTER, for a while.
Also it did a good job reminding me how bad I need to get a vision check and some glasses after shot #2. The last 3 or so years I've been developing worsening hyperopia, which is not a big deal outdoors, in the water, etc. But being farsighted is less good when your job requires you to focus on things up close pretty much 24/7.
Aging sucks.

ENF-4Rcc ENFORCER (Command Variant)
In the years leading up to the 4th Succession War, one of the many things Dr B Banzai was tasked to research was how to shore up some of the shortcomings that had long plagued the workhorse of the Federated Suns, the Enforcer.
While a sound Trooper, with a very storied service history, the lack of ammunition stores for it's Federated Autocannon, and paper thin back armor, had been almost as consistent a story as the design's successes. A somewhat lesser issue was the lack of any true long range firepower, though pairing it with Centurions or Dervishes, was the expedient solution for that.
In between work on the Hatchetman and Wolfhound, Banzai concluded that short of a total redesign of the Enforcer's internal Structure, there simply was no room, internally for a second ammunition magazine. For the armor, he recommended scrapping the largely unloved ChisComp Small Laser and using the mass spared toward adding more armor to the back.
But one of the many ideas he tried out did show promise, just not as a general issue replacement. While toying with the range issues, he equipped one of his test mules with a paired PPC/AC5 in place of the traditional LL/AC10. Like the base arrangement, these weapons perfectly mirrored each other's range, and even caused approximately the same amount of heat debt on the ENF's coolant System, while giving that extra reach to match that of their foe's primary designs, the Dragon, Panther and Vindicator.
The downside was the effective minimum ranges of the weapons, and a slight loss of overall "punch". Still, one of the AFFS Marshals overseeing the project was impressed enough to recommend limited production as a "Lance Command" model. The idea was to assign this variant to the Leftenant or Captain, and pair it with two standard ENF-4Rs, and a Dervish. To compensate, partially for the lack of infighting weapons, a pair of Medium Lasers were added, one the left breast, in place of the old ChisComp Small Laser, the other in the Center Torso. Less apparent, but of possibly greater importance is the inclusion of a Tek BattleComm in place of the traditional communications suite.
The deployment saw heavy testing during the Galahad exercises and showed promise, though it also demonstrated that even with the Federated Suns military industry, it was impractical to build that specific lance structure, and often the ENF-4Rc had to make do with Centurions, Valkyries and other designs in the lance, instead of the ideal arrangement. Also, existing Enforcer pilots were resistant to the changes, and often kept trying to fight in the manner they had learned with the basic ENF-4R.
Still it performed well, and so production continued, though the mech was assigned only to those who requested it, or to newly minted Leftenants, as they had not acclimated to the standard model, and thus were more comfortable with the difference in fighting style.
Even this limited production would halt entirely after the discovery of the Helm Memory Core started research into what would become the ENF-5D, as this design would use the newly rediscovered technology to address all the concerns, in a single model, allowing for simpler and cheaper production and logistics, overall.
In the end, only around 100 ENF-4Rcs were produced, between 3026 and 3035, of which a great number were destroyed in the fighting of the 4th Succession War and War of 3039. By the beginning of the Clan Invasion only around 2 dozen were left in service, and many more of these would be destroyed during the Invasion.
