There are some Pokemon that make very nice morphs.. the Eevee series, Blaziken.. the legendary birds.. Even saw a very nice Lugia once, but others like Koffing (obviously), Raticate, Kabutops.. need some very heavy alterations to fit.

You pull Blaziken off very.. very nicely ^^

i agree... they're a pain in the ass to catch so i settle for drowzee. its defensively stronger

paladinstorm In reply to GranOmega-7 [2016-09-06 03:26:14 +0000 UTC]

I'd personally go for Ralts- straight-forward leveling-based evolution, while final-form is still strong in SpAtk and resilient, as well... not to mention just more awesome looking than the Abras or Drowzees, at least in my opinion, and lore-wise highly devoted and loyal, with the implication they get stronger as the bond between trainer and partner grows. They're also the only pokemon family/line I'm aware of that is described as able to create BLACK HOLES in the most dire of situations, and willing to sacrifice itself for its trainer if need be. Usually the little blurbs from the pokedex entries are distinct, right? I want the psychic that's going to do everything in its power to save me if it comes to it, and I'd reward that loyalty with my own effort to keep it alive.

Besides, Abras have relatively high capture rates- I just threw out a ball whenever I encountered one on Route 116 of Hoenn (Emerald) and it honestly didn't take that many balls (it was either that, or watch it teleport away on its turn if I tried to weaken, if I didn't KO it outright). Admittedly now it just sits in storage while a Gardevoir tears things up; Abra was just taken for completionism, and the opportunity was presented.

GranOmega-7 In reply to paladinstorm [2016-09-11 02:33:04 +0000 UTC]

hypno's pokedex entries are creepy. but its stats are still good. its capable of learning a great variety of moves by tm, hm, tutoring, and breeding.

its the main psychic i used in my firered version.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

paladinstorm In reply to GranOmega-7 [2016-09-11 04:22:15 +0000 UTC]

Among Gen 1, it's probably not a bad choice... but I keep comparing Gardevoir's base stats to other Psychics and one thing I note is that it doesn't sacrifice much of the defensive resilience of Hypno to get most of Alakazam's offensive power. Espeon has comparable stats, it seems, but leans slightly more towards offensive than defensive (technically putting it between Gardevoir and Alakazam). However, neither of them can be acquired naturally, it looks like, in FireRed; technically Ralts can in certain situations at end-game, but that's not exactly plausible if one is progressing normally.

(specifically, Gardevoir has only 5 points less in Defense and is down 20% on HP, but they have the same SpDefense value and Gardevoir is faster and has much higher SpAttack, making the Ralts final form decidedly more deadly while sacrificing a bit of survivability, but not enough that it's a glass cannon like Alakazam)

So, anyway, yeah, Hypno does seem a solid choice for the Gen 1 games and their remakes, but as of Gen 3 I'd rather take the Shakespearean ballet-knight (as the Youtube channel TheNationalDex apparently dubbed Gardevoir in an episode on it). But that's just my preference.

when i bought a used emerald copy i had to catch a raltz (only after hearing how great it was/not because of the sexy art running rampant online). dutchess as i called her (the raltz i found was female) proved extremely powerful armed with psychic, thunderbolt, shadow ball, and well i can't remember her last move. alongside flygon, blaziken, blastoise, sceptile, and bannette (also female) proved very effective against the elite four and steven the champion.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

paladinstorm In reply to GranOmega-7 [2016-09-18 01:41:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, sexy art is one thing, but I wouldn't be such a fan of Gardevoir if it wasn't strong and I didn't like the concept of it. The main reason I made sure it was my main partner when I started playing the games recently was the very fact the species is characterized as a perfect match for my ideal self- selfless, devoted and loyal... Some of the very reasons 'Paladin' was part of my early online alias (as is the case here). Idealized paladins, not the arrogant shits casting judgement on everyone. I researched the crap out of the species on Bulbapedia before I even started playing. Though artists like RakkuGuy introduced me to them (with art that was decidedly on the adorable and amusing side, not the sexy side), it was the details from the games I could learn through Bulbapedia that cemented my interest. Self-sacrifice, immense power to create black holes in the direst of circumstances, empathy for others but especially their partner... The Ralts family practically begged me to experience the World of Pokemon with one of them at my side.

I imagine Filimena will help my trainer Alek beat Steven, as well. They'll be working together like proper partners. Alongside the rest of my main party (all counted as part of the family in my mind), I feel they will find a way to overcome any obstacle.
Edit: as it stands, that party is intended to be this line-up: Filimena the Gardevoir, Brienne the Aggron, Murdoch the Swampert, Abel the Absol, Alissa the Tropius, and Gwen the Wailord. Yes, I have a double-up on water-type, but I don't really care- Murdoch's main strength is honestly in his Ground-typing, anyway, so he can wreck electrics. Gwen's strength is that she can dedicate most of her moves to party mobility, though I imagine she could be a strong water-caster, as well, with her stats and the power of some of those water mobility moves. Some of which I'm inclined to give to Murdoch so he has physically-empowered water moves to make use of his raw Attack (pretty much just Waterfall, actually).
