an all female pokemon team eh? never seen one but female monsters while generally weaker in power have higher defense. plus they can breed stats into their child while daddy passes along some of his attack arsenal.

Never noticed that sort of trend, to be honest, but I guess it's possible. I just as soon assume genders don't influence the IVs, though, and it's just pure random with coincidences... and this is just how they fell (except Filia who was specifically made to be a little sister-type to my trainer). But they're not all female- Murdoch and Abel are male. And Gwen's getting phased out for Ophelia the Milotic since I posted that. Fortunately the same nature but stronger on special attack to really punish with water special skills if I need it. And Murdoch's going to be using the other two water overworld mobility skills since they're implied to be more physically-based anyway and that'll make use of his naturally higher Attack as a Swampert. I'm seeing him have Earthquake, Waterfall, and Dive, at the very least, with that in mind. Not entirely sure on the last move, but I'll work that out- for now I think he has Mud Shot since it can be useful for clearing out weaker enemies or finishing off ones that don't die to other, stronger moves. Though he still has Water Gun for now, as well (until I get ahold of the other HMs), which can serve the same purpose.

One of my friends who has played the games since the beginning has actually generally preferred female team members, and also has had the odd luck of almost always getting female starters despite the low chance. He says it works out for him since, at least in the real world with pets and such, he prefers females anyway for their more calm and protective natures compared to 'rambunctious' males as he called them.

Both of us still see Pokemon as more than just pets, though (I mean my previously-mentioned headcanon or mental narrative for my Gardevoir being like a little sister to my trainer character, for instance; the rest of the team are seen as family or becoming family, as well). They've shown in the games, and certainly depending on the specific titles, a capacity for sentience or sapienceΒ (distinctly more prevalent in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, seeing as they've built a functioning town which shows a capacity for civilization- something mere beasts or animals wouldn't be capable of). Whether 5000 IQ is an exaggeration or not, Alakazam is conceivably smarter than humans, along with many, if not all, Psychic-types; other Pokemon could be at least comparable to human intellect, and certain others might be akin to the more 'base' of human society like British chavs or American hillbillies in mental capacity.

... and I probably got a bit more philosophical than was expected ... eh heh.
