Okay, once again. People do whatever they want.
FMA is mainly based of Germany and some aspects of their culture come from England I think. But generally, it's a mix of different cultures. Mainly Germany though, it's the most obvious.
I can't make sense of out most of what you wrote in your comment, sorry.
By the by, the FMA wiki is not a trustworthy source of information. Just sayin'

question say you make an oc for the the first show based off of u then one for brotherhood and you got your hair short or died it a darker brown or lighter brown but still brown would you still use the one from the first or just make it how your new look is

See this might be the problem with OCs that are supposed to closely resemble their creators. We constantly change, I suggest that you pick something, a look of yours that you like, and stick to it, instead of changing it whenever you change.

i've a question my FMA oc looks like my avatar (blue hair and blue eyes) and her story begins in one fan fic i've done around 4 years ago, she lost her parents and she cames to live with her grandma in Rezembool (sorry but in spanish we write it) and she lost her left leg 4 one diabetes and in the fan fic she used an Automail made in rush valley
she is an aspirant to "state alchemist" and she controlled the "dark" or "shadows"
when the "inscription time" are opened.... can i use the same story?

I WANT MY OC TO HAVE LASERS SHOOTING OUT OF HER AUTO MAIL!!!! Hahahaha just kidding. I like the "No Buzz Lightyear Lasers" so I had to type something stupid. And, no my oc is not gonna have auto mail. Well, I'm gonna make about 3-4 different OCs and 1 MIGHT have auto mail JUST to switch it up a bit (and I gotta good story for it too). Seriously? People give their characters auto mail ELBOWS???? WELL! SOMEONE (not naming names) is stupid!

This is awesome! My main OC has gone through many changes... She used to be like a genderbent Roy. Black messy hair, fiery temper, Flirty and Percy. She's changed a whole lot, and she looks a lot more original now! She's still paired with Roy though...

This is a pretty desent tutorial, but you know that all mistakes you mentioned are done by little girls who can't even read?
And by the way, eye shape? Is it that bad? Oo
I mean... look around. There are a lot of people with same shape of eyes. So I think you've a little overdid it ^^'

No no, in actuality I don't think you'll find 2 persons with the exact same eyes + eyebrows +eyelashes, really.
And when you just copy another character's eye-shape it comes off as unoriginal, there are always ways to make it look different and unique. Eyes say a lot about a character and that's why they're so important. They're the windows to the soul.

My OC, Elsa Madl, has a low IQ, but she's loyal to companions and would fight for them(too impulsively that she might get herself killed because she wouldn't understand the seriousness of the situation as long as her friends were safe). She's friendly, somewhat shy and intimidated by people, and never gives up hope in the worst of situations, but she's too curious for her own good and naiive(which can get her into trouble). She has an hourglass shaped body, but she is chubby around the belly area from a side angle as it hangs out, and she has thicker bones than most girls so she has some physical strength. Her left hand is automail because she had a deformed hand when she was born and her father wanted her to live like a normal child and have more opportunities, so she willingly got it at 8 years old(but she was in rehab for nearly 5 years) Her hair is red, her eyebrows are dark red, and her eyes are brown(which I believe is a rare combination). She's 16 years old. There's more here [link] but does she sound like a Mary sue to you?

This is most excellently helpful. Would you believe me if I said that I have THREE different FMA fan-stories that each have at least one OC?
One of them has two minor OC characters (both Ishvalans), another is almost all OCs because it centers around Ed's grandson (and certain events are similar there for a reason: the old "those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it" saying, but I'm really trying to develop all those characters so that they're not copies of the previous generations), and the third has only one OC... and that one runs the closest to what people think of as a "Mary Sue," but I'm working on her, too. It seems like a hasty generalization to me for an OC who's related to the Elrics to automatically be condemned as a Sue... especially when I sometimes sweat blood over trying to make characters real and believable.

OC stands for "Original Character." In this situation, an "Original Character" is a character that a fan creates and thrusts into one of the Fullmetal Alchemist realities.

Here is a link to the template. You download the .png image and draw over it with an art program (or print it off, draw on it by hand, then scan it). When the join requests open again, join the group (if you haven't already) and submit your registration form to the group.

Hmmm... can our Oc be of ishballan blood? Cause my Oc is actually part ishballan and fox chimera. Would that be too much?

It's okay with the races but it's not easy to deal with Ishvalans in FMA, they're complicated to work with. Hmmm well that depends on the story, it would make sense in a way if the OC had been captured and used for experiments.... but if the OC is not strong or old enough chances are he or she would die after the procedure. This is the reason AAAAALLL the chimeras you see in FMA are soldiers, and most are men, because they have trained bodies and they're more likely to survive.

Well actually, I had written her back story along time ago so please bare with me, Her mother was the turned chimera done so by her alchemist father. The man had good intentions to start out with but he basically became mad. He did experiments on his pregnant wife, turning her into a chimera, which changed Kimera's DNA since she was still being developed at the time. So besides the white hair, she has all of the normal ishvalan traits (she is only half though)

It's a type of body where the body is well balance, similar to hourglass but not as curvy, it's what you call an average female body.

My oc's name is Akiya (mainly by typo O3O...)
But its not her real name, a little girl she knows called her that and it just stuck.
Plus I made her a golem (kinda like the made up failed prototype to the immortal army)
I've yet to see an OC like that. Is my idea original because I'm doubting my self. Any does that make her a marysue in anyway. Sue test don't cover golems... :/

Just a quick question. My oc has a Japanese name (AKA Yuki). I have gone to the effort of giving a logical explanation for why her name is Yuki because I kind of didnt want to change the name after a year of using her name.
Is it still ok if i decided to keep Yuki's mane after coming up with the explanation?

One easy way to explain a foreign name is actually giving the character a foreign BG. However, there is no Japan in FMA so a country would have to be created.
If the explanation makes sense, if it doesn't, well... it'll just look stupid.

The best explanation I thought was a simple one that her mom kind of somehow heard the name means snow and really liked the snow so naturally she thought the name was beautiful. So she gave it to she gave it to Yuki.
My issue is I made it so she grew up in the north. The problem is I neither want to change the background nor change her name. I'm more or less afraid that changing too much of Yuki could ruin her character she is one of my best OCs.
