The words and the image work beautifully together and enhance each other powerfully.
The bright patch in the sky looks like if you peek through it you will see a whole other world.
I know this is very much about solid reality and electrical signals and people, but that sky just gives me a strong impression of what is beyond the veil, and the way actually the spirit world likes to follow our lives, including what we say on the phone

I haven't yet read 'Love". But here is the wild part:
I have been carrying that book around in my book satchel for months! I think my hesitation is that I found the beginning a little tedious. But I LOVE Toni's work. I've read Tar Baby, The Bluest Eye and Song of Solomon. The latter is one of the best books I've ever read. Definitely in my top 10. Gruvi that this piece in any way reminds you of something from that special lady.

I think I have read them all except Paradise....although I may have read that too...it's ringing a bell. Somtimes I dont know Ive read something until I'm reading it again and start to recognise it.
I think you might find Jazz absorbing. I certainly did.
I guess the pace of Love is kind of slow and airy in the way it is told. I can understand a city person not being grabbed by it. Maybe you just need to leave it until you want something with that kind of tempo.
