Description
I shot this on my way to northern Europe's largest waterfall, Mardalsfossen. The landscapes through the valleys had a rather captivating effect on me.Darkroom involves a tad of bleaching/desaturation to enhance the effect of the barren landscape.

Hehe, yeah, I can totally understand why it from a distance could be mistaken for a render, the elevations and rocks looks a little "rendered" and the colors are bleached, so... And indeed it was an amazing place overall. Actually pretty much everywhere I looked I found the scenery to be really interesting.

^jnc Was definitely correct when he said this is other wordly - along with all your other images. (which are fantastic!)
Its like a moon, that still breathes the essence of life!
If we could imagine the moon, with a thin atmosphere, without cratering, with forms of ecosystem, we could imagine it looks like this
It feels barren, yet at the sametime its living,
like an age long planet, striving to live, encountering so many setbacks, yet it survives.
It lives on, in a form of barren beauty, truly a beautiful, yet sad feeling to the image. Most excellent!
Now, looking into the pictures details we see its inner depths, & stories unfold to our eyes & minds.
There is a striking effect with the amazing use of sky lighting,
like a thin atmosphere, hazing into a night sky, yet it is in fact 'daytime'.
I often look into the sky, & wonder, if we had a thin atmosphere, what the day sky would be like,
& i can imagine it like this, glowing luminescence in the horizon of our view, yet we see the splendour of stars,
like seeing through the sky, we could see clouds drifting in out scope of sight, like a dream,
clouds drift in front of our view of the stars, yet we see the stars, it is day, such a fantastical thought,
the affect in the sky of this image sparks this thought of seeing through the sky,
such a beautiful effect
The water is the next serene emphasise in the image,
it tells a story, a story of bare life, life in a place where on would not expect.
the dark water are well.. dark, they invoke a deepness, a deepness into the story of the planet,
like a deep well, filled with surprises & secrets, unveiling over time,
the thin atmosphere reflects in a sense of serene beauty on the dark waters,
like light, trying to pierce darkness, attempting the impossible. The waters lock themselves up from the inside,
& nothing seems to get into the inside, The planet has dealt with pains, & it retreats, it retreats from its outer being,
& the darkness of the lake makes us sense that the lakes inner self is deep down, not shown from the outside.
A nice contrast in the image
The terrain tells us another story,
it shows the barren hurts on the outside for all to see, not keeping them inside.
It tells us its story in a more straightforward manner.
Its grasses have grown hard & half dead, yet they live on, just like the inside of this land,
the barren rocks are the terrors & attacks on the land that have made its life such a struggle,
yet it lives on, & the grasses once perhaps lush are now hardened & sour, but they live on in an infernal struggle of pain.
The mountains also have the deepness of the waters, they hold in alot of the pain,
but alot of the pain is strewn in mayhem on the outside, let loose to run free & cause havoc.
there is truly a mood to this piece, & it is definitely a well earned daily deviation,
it truly feels otherwordly, a barren world struggling to survive,
struggling with the pain from the inside & the outside,
you truly have captured a sense of fantasy & mood in the picture which is invokes so much imagination.
Your whole gallery has this sort of mood & amazement, you are deserving of all the attention you can get.
so.... a well earned fav!

If I could give a fav to your in-depth comments I would do it. Thanks for taking your time to write a comment which I would feel proud to have as a piece in itself to go along with the deviation. Thank you

Looks desolate, the kind of place where animals go to die or a place of banishment. That sky is so perfect, just clear and clean. Really beautiful

Yay!! Congrats on the DD Bjorn!
I saw this on the site and was going to have a look once I'd cleared my watch - but it was ON my watch
I love that sky - the gradient is fantastic... even such barren areas can be so incredibly beautiful.
