Lieutenant Desri Booths glanced at the readout on her screen. The readings were clear - a tritanium signature was lighting up on sensors.
"I've found it!" she gasped. Way out here on the edge of the Alpha Quadrant, beyond the Badlands, she had finally located what could possibly be the U.S.S. Response, a Galaxy class starship that had gone missing during the Dominion War - presumed lost with all hands.
She had been searching for her friend, Lt. Anthony Whip for two years now, since the end of the war. He had been a Lieutenant Commander on the senior staff of the ship when it had been lost while on patrol.
At the encouragement of her counselor, Esri Dax, Booths had gotten permission to take a week leave from her duties aboard Deep Space 9 to search for the U.S.S. Response.
Booths banked the new Orinoco towards the M-class planet where the reading was emanating. What would she find on this lush, untouched world? She prepared herself for the worst, even while she held out hope that she would find survivors who had somehow managed to stay alive on the planet's surface.
