Description
Out on the furthest edges of the Federation Frontier, the U.S.S. Kyushu, a New Orleans class starship, heads towards a nebular phenomenon that it was designed to explore. Nearby a mysterious solar system beckons with mysteries yet to be discovered.

In Captain William Ender's mind comes the words of an ancient Earth poet resonating with the moment: “Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” Andre Gide. Out here, on the edge of the unknown, that was exactly what they'd done.

Though smaller than the Galaxy class, the New Orleans class was based on similar design principles, and was a purely science vessel with two dedicated science pods on the Dorsal side of the Saucer and one science pod on the ventral side of engineering hull. Little did Captain Enders know then that he would be tasked with holding the line at the battle of Wolf 359 where so many good ships and crews, not used to war and battle, were snuffed out by the Borg, led by Locutus.

ARTIST NOTE: I wanted to cast this piece with a quiet romanticism that best encapsulates the age of discovery that were the TNG years when the New Orleans Class was operating.
