While investigating a dust filled stellar cloud migrating on its own trajectory through the upper boundary of the Galactic plane, the U.S.S. Investiture encounters within a terrifying phenomenon - a spacial vortex that swallows a solar-system whole right in front of them.

Whatever is causing this horrific spectacle of destruction, the forces are great enough to tear the very fabric of space-time. Is this a natural phenomenon, a matter/energy collector for another dimension, or a weapon of some kind?

Whatever the case, Starfleet must be notified of the danger at once before the Investiture can continue its investigation.
