That's right, they never did say what happened to the Botany Bay. I would've thought the Enterprise should've towed it to a starbase (because it had some historical value), but I guess it got forgotten amongst the more pressing problems Khan posed.

yeah, I forgot about that. I also forgot that rust could result from chemical reactions between the hull and any gaseous anomalies it encountered, or even chemicals present in the hull itself.

Don't worry James T., will take the Enterprise back and set the events for Star Trek II the wrath of Khan.
Just received the Director 's Edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. It was different, you finally get to see more of V'ger's ship
