Aww the poor wee thing, nice shot though, the similar tones of the bird and leaves make me feel like the bird is becoming part of the earth, giving something back to mother nature.

si-am vazut azi dimineata niste pasari infulecand furnici pe baza unui copac. au zburat cand m-am apropiat de ele (eram, curios sa vad ce mancau cu-atata pofta), musuroiul o luase razna pe vreun metru patrat, o agitatie de nedescris, nu statea nicio furnica locului.

It's almost haunting. But in a sense, it shows that nature's cycle is neverending. When one thing dies, ants get a free meal and then it turns into worm grub later
Seriously, what did it smell like? It must have been horrible. In LA you can't get close to dead birds because they could be infected with West Nile Virus. Dangerous stuff!

it was pretty much odorless.. i think the body of that dead bird was still relatively fresh.

people around these parts were hysterical at one point about that avian flu thing

West Nile Virus is pretty scary around these parts, especially because I live in the area (or parish) of LA that receives the most cases. However, you can only get it from May-October and it's most dangerous a few days after it rains. Why? Mosquitoes carry it!
In the dead of night about once a month, a spray truck comes down every street spraying mosquito poison. Everyone should put on repellent and stay inside after the sun goes down and birdbaths are dangerous.
Because if you survive West Nile, chances are you won't be the same person you were before. Old and young folk stand no chance most of the time. 
So what is Avian flu like? I never knew much about it.

i don't really know much about avian flu.. but it's supposed to kill more than half the people who catch it.
i suppose it's kind of like the same as regular flu, only, perhaps, a bit more... "hardcore"?

Oh! I remember my Mom joking about how she'd lose a ton of weight if bird flu was spread to the American chicken population. That and salad is about all she eats.
