I've already thought about this idea for a long time about a heaven for kitties and only now I have the time to paint it (also I think it's a good entry for this contest)! In this surreal garden cats are happy & carefree, just forever peace.. my ideal fantasy place too of course, haha.. You may also interpret this as the place where the cat spirits reside or a heaven for the innocents.

My last experiment with soft pastels this week, now done on Canson Fine Face, the cheapest paper of 4 kinds of art papers I tried for dry pastels. And well, the result I think is the cheapest too: it doesn't absorb the pastel dust just like watercolor paper and even worse, maybe due to the fine surface. It blends okay but not as easy compared to textured papers.

With this paper it was my least enjoyable drawing experience but it will do fine if you're looking for a budget art paper. Though again since the paper is thin and having the lowest level of pastel absorption you're going to need fixative to hold everything on its surface.
