I don't usually try to add oil to an already blazing fire, but thought I would use this as an analogy of the impending crisis. And not talking about Covid 19. And this is AFTER I tried it, I'd been staying silent about eclipse now for a while, because I just never used it, so it would be UNFAIR to comment about it sucking before I ever tried it myself, which to be honest is something EVERYONE SHOULD DO, before commenting on eclipse.And on a side note, Covid 19 is NOT called that because there with 18 other Covids. It was because it was discovered in 2019. So if you follow or listen to ANYONE who talks about the first 18 covids not being a problem, stop listening to that person now, for they have done NO research, and are doing you NO favors, are NOT protecting you, and are in fact, untrustworthy, during a time where FACTS are kind of important, and misinformation can ACTUALLY cost lives.
That wasn't meant to be a mini-rant, but thanks for listening.
Also, while I was putting in the "tags" for this pic, when I was typing the word "eclipse" in, the autofinisher brought up "eclipsesucks" and "eclipseisaweful" before it showed the word "eclipse"

Um, I may want to nitpick on something, about the Gamecube, that's not a Gamecube, it's a NES.

I don't really like the Eclipse format either, with fact that just about every image is 1.5*-2* larger and you get to see LESS of the image is a rather big downgrade on large monitors where you could see something like 20+ images in full, now you can only see 8-12 images and most of those are cut off in some way on my screen.Β Whereas before I could look through all of my new images from people that I watch in a few minutes, now I have to take twice as long since the new controls are actually slower than the old that had been beautifully optimized, and all for what, to look "cooler"?Β No, that is unacceptable.Β If a person doesn't mind the old let them continue to use it, don't force them to use something that is probably not well received.
If the new format was exclusive to a mobile application that "small" screens use, then yes it would be entirely worth it, but this is for big screens that you look at from 2+ FEET away, not something that you hold in your hand and have to zoom in and out to see details and the full image respectively.
Aside from that one improvement that I noticed was that when trawling though searches it doesn't generate a new page every 24 images in the Eclipse format.Β Not sure if it is the same in the tags.Β But that is a small easily missed detail that was there before what is currently considered "Old" where it was changed.Β So, yay, they brought back an ancient thing that they took away for no apparent reason.Β Is that an improvement?Β Or is it correcting a bit of stupidity?
If the DeviantArt staff put out a poll on weather the users like the new or old format, there probably not be nearly as much as an outcry as there is.Β If there is a massive disparity between the two sides, then yes I can understand them doing away with the old if the new is liked that much more, but without that input from users it seems more like the staff being asses.
