Shinichi was an “obstacle” of sorts that Nyu, Shinsa, and Trista ran into while going through Forbank Forest. While attempting to fill the girls up with liquid so she could eat them later, she was inflated by one of Shinsa’s potions on accident and caused her to explode. But she was able to reform as her body seemed like it was a shell with no heart. However she thought the encounter was fun and decided to join the girls. Nyu was against it, but Shinsa thought it would be useful research so Shinichi tagged along.
Something to note about Dryads on this world is that Dryads do NOT like other Dryads. They are fiercely territorial, and while they will live with other creatures, they will not live other Dryads. It’s said that the forests or other vegetation grow bigger depending on the strength of a Dryad; the bigger the forest, the stronger the Dryad that may have created it. The Dryad feeds the forest, and the forest feeds the Dryad. If a Dryad leaves a forest, its power will wain, but new vegetation will often grow around it, eventually growing its power back. Small forests will often die out if the Dryad dies, but if the Dryad lives long enough, the forest will become self sufficient, even the Dryad dies or leaves. Dryads can live forever, so they can only die by other causes. Dryads will rarely leave a forest of their own creation, thus if hunters kill it, the forest will no longer grow more, unless another Dryad moves it.
Dryads are asexual, meaning they do not need a member of the opposite gender to procreate. In fact, they have no gender. The only reason Shinichi looks like one is because she takes the form of one. There is no exact known reason for this, even with all that Shinsa has learned from her. She only knows what Shinichi tells her, and does not often get answers to most of her question. A Dryad takes 1000 years to give birth to a single Dryad. Twins have never been seen before. Once born the offspring is already fully matured, and a Dryad parent will either place it in the middle of nowhere to create a forest of its own, or drop it in another forest that is believed to be abandoned of other Dryads so it will now have a new owner. Often though, the Dryad parent will simply not find the owner Dryad after leaving the offspring, the offspring will either find and kill the owner, or be killed.
Dryad offspring are born with all the knowledge and memories of the parent. So it’s kind of more like cloning oneself rather than giving having a child. But the clone will have its own personality, and may even end up fighting its parent own day. Due to the territorial fighting, the long wait between new birth and hunters, Dryads are pretty rare. Most areas of vegetation have one, but there are only so many areas of vegetation on the planet. There are probably less than 100 Dryads in the world alone. Shinichi will not think twice about following the demigirls into a forest that is not hers, but the moment she steps into it, she instinctively goes on the lookout for another Dryad. She won’t go looking for it, but it’s practically the only thing she’s interested in. It’s like she won’t realize she’s going into a forest until she’s gone into the forest.

What does a Dryad think of woodsmen or loggers, or anybody who's looking for some live wood to use as fuel?

Depends on the dryad, but as for Shinichi, she doesn't mind people chopping trees down as she just makes more. The same way an animal uses a tree as a home, a person can too, it's just that a person tends to use alot more. However, many people who had gathered wood from Shinichi's forest only took what they needed and would often attempt to replant that which they took. But regardless of their reasons, if she's hungry, Shinichi won't pass up an easy meal.

Well, I kinda meant whacking a Dryad with an axe thinking the Dryad is a tree.
