Character design updates for Kerik and Neera !!! You can often see them standing an awkward distance away while pointing at you and whispering.

In this world, humans have harnessed energy from other dimensions to power their spacecraft and other technologies. Much like with fossil fuels, they didn’t quite think through the long term consequences of doing this and eventually it started spreading from machine to user (due to a sort of radiation-like effect of the energy), leading to people who are “intertangled” with another dimension. These people are commonly called incarnates, prisms, or more clinically IAEDEs (“eye-dees) (Individuals Altered by Extradimensional Entanglement )
Under the current regime in the Empire, any incarnates that pop up are forcibly taken into government care and conscripted once they reach a certain age because of the valuable side effects of their infection/extradimensional entanglement. Kerik and Neera, like many others, fled the Empire after being infected to avoid being drafted. Luckily they made it!
