This little beetle thing is the first one of its kind I have ever seen! I thought it was beautiful... and kind of retro-looking! So I had to take some photos. It started to run away, so I put it back onto the side walk so I could get at least one good shot. The minute I moved the poor little guy, he went all stiff and refused to move, as if he were dead. I assume that was a defense tactic. I really hope I did not scare him that badly. But before we walked away, we made sure to get him moving again and put him in the edge of the grass where he was originally trying to get to.
If someone knows what this creature is, please let me know! I'm so curious!

There are a lot of these beetles in Russia) They occupy every potato field and even eat tomatoes and tobacco. Once upon a time they sailed to us on a ship with potatoes and now we can not defeat them. The beetles are very beautiful but so hungry :^D

That is really interesting! They must be really hardy beetles to be able to survive in such different climates! I imagine that growing those plants is quite difficult with these bugs around...Β
