Description Leptinotarsa decemlineata

We found this guy in our salad, where he must've spend a few days until being released onto our stove by my girlfriend and immediately trapped again by me. I put him into a glass where he had to spend the night so i could take a few shots of him the next day. I released him into our yard later, where he's now busy i guess.

Dude, you should do macros more often! You're really good at it!

Thanks!
Took a lot of flowers lately. They'll be up after the next few sets from the studio.

Very good shot and precise identification of the type of beetle.

The Colorado beetle causes a lot of damage to the potato crop and is a quarantine pest in many countries.

Thank you! ^^

Yeah it isn't too hard to identify with it's distinctively striped shell. German gardens mostly abound in those bugs during summer. ^^

Welcome
Precisely, it is rather easy to identify.
I have learnt to identify it as I work in the agricultural sector and it is a quarantine pest in Malta.

My grandma told me it's name, when i was a child and found a lot of them in her garden.
But it doesn't seem to enjoy regular salad and herbs that much, so we didn't kill them.

I think it is a specific pest, meaning it will only attack the potatoes
It is difficult to forget the name of such a beetle as it has nice colouring

Thanks! The benefits of doing it in the studio, rather than outside somewhere, i guess.

Thanks a lot! ^^
Of course i couldn't kill the little fella. After having so much bad luck he deserved some fertile ground with a few nice, green plants.

Me and my sis once found a yellow (instead of the usual red) ladybug, with the little black dots and all. It was so calm and lovely! Then some bug swooped down on it suddenly and killed it right on my sister's hand .

That totally sounds like a joke they might bring on Family Guy.
I don't know what it is with random acts of violence ... sometimes i just find them to be incredibly funny.
Sad for the bug of course and for you guys.

Yeah I felt bad. That bug was so strange and pretty. My poor sister had a look on her face that said 'What the hell just happened..?'

I love this.
I especially love that the background is abstract, rather than the typical nature background usually found with animal/insect shots.

Very well done

Thanks a lot!
At first i was annoyed that i wouldn't have a realistic background, but after i took the shots i thought it looks kinda windows-xp-ish and that it has some kind of fresh look to it.
