Your representation of isolation is great.
I love the idea of his arms bonding himself, as if he was his own prison, containing himself because of lonelyness. It looks like a vicious spiral. The way he look at us would sound like a call for help but his behavior makes us believe it would be so difficult to help.
His empty expression and lack of personality seems like he is about to disapear as everyone ignores him...
And the painting really conveys that feeling, as the character is mixing with the shadow.
