December 14,2010Public version 3.1a
-Added ability to enable/disable the start tips with regfiles.
-When using Visa, it would still try and apply userframes and start tips. (I missed this one in 3.1)
These are the only two changes in 3.1a. If 3.1 worked for you, then you should NOT install this. Well you can if you want but there is no new features.
I also included StartOrbz 2.1, since this loaded up fine for most people.
There really isnt much more to do with StartOrbz, so only expect bug fixes. If you have suggestions, please let me know. As always, post any bugs, comments, or suggestions.

I got a lot of messages, notes, emails, and comments to catch up on. There really isnt much more to do with orbs. I will fix any bugs reported.
Just an FYI, I do have another project under wraps! Its such a huge task but I will keep everyone updated.

Great program, very useful! I like all the effects, makes making these much easier. When I first launched it I had used another program to change my orb, and now the return to default option just restores that one, not the windows one. Any way to reset the orb it thinks is default? (that other app can put the default one back, but I'd rather only use yours if I can get it to work)

Whenever I change the orb the aero/vista basic themes seems to disappear from the theme list. And I can't apply it back on. The only theme available is classic, standard, and high contrast ones. Also what exactly is meant by "Vista support will only work if you have patched the proper theme files"

mouse button while moving the start (pic1) -> show but pic2 pic1 pic2 only mask, I still see pic1 ...... you can make at this pic1 = null (transparent), and when selected, pic3 shows ...... just hide pic2 ===> start button no longer looks natural! : P .... thank !...( I speak English very baskets .... google translate) khoighost@gmail.com

khi chuột di chuyển vào nút start(pic1) ->pic2 show nhưng pic2 chỉ che đi pic1, tôi vẫn thấy pic1......bạn có thể làm cho lúc này pic1=null (trong suốt), và khi chọn thì pic3 show ...... cũng chỉ che đi pic2 ===> nút start không còn vẻ tự nhiên!

Just curious, when I'm making a new orb. The group effects has an image size of 0 to 160. But mine will only go to 95.

This is really amazing? However, I'm having a strange issue; the normal icon is cropped to fit the taskbar in normal mode. [link] However, when I hover over it, the problem is fixed. [link]

hey, cool program but im having a bit of trouble adding some of my own creations and ones that i found on the internet, it just says its not a genuine creation, how can i make it one? im and running vista 32 bit.

After re-reading Zehirre's post I think I have the exact same issue actually, I originally dismissed it because I thought the error was just for his dock. I suppose that's what happens when you skim though huh? So I suppose, if anyone sees this message help him out too. AND DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME IF YOU SEE HIS AND NOT MINE. KTHXBAI.

Great program, I've been looking forever to find a way to change my start button. However, when I use this program and try to change themes to activate the new start orb, my taskbar and pretty much any other place where text appears goes black. I had to restore to fix the problem (thanks a ton for making that part of the program too, otherwise I'd be screwed). I am using vista, and I know there is a message warning that there are problems with the themes and such, but how could I go about fixing this problem?

Hugely major issue here.
I made a simple start orb, saved it as a project, then tried to apply it. It gave me the normal warning that i'd have to change themes to see the change. When that went away, explorer got messed up and everything but a few icons and such went pitch black. I still managed to navigate the menus and change the theme to windows classic, fixing the blackness issue. I'm assuming it was caused by the orb change.
Now, when I try to open startorbz, it gives me the vista warning, as per usual, and then promptly crashes. I can't change the orb back. Deleted it, redownloaded it, same problem. Now, no matter what I do, I can't get the normal vista theme back. That, and neither of my docks work.
Did I forget to mention system restore didn't help at all?
For the love of all that is holy on the internet, help me.

Zehirre I found out how to fix the black problem: [link] I never had the dock problems so I don't know if it will stop that. However, I was unable to restore the original vista icon afterwords, and had to revert to a restore point to bring it back. Hope it helps though.

Nice! I really like this. After I found this I spent two days playing with it.
I do have two small problems:
1) It seems to crash sometimes when I try to edit an existing orb.
2) When I close this program It always closes any Windows Explorer windows I have open as well. It's not a big deal, but kind of frustrating.

I understand it closing explorer when I apply a new orb. It also closes my explorer windows when I exit the software. Even if I don't apply anything.

What size would the default Windows 7 Orb be? It's 36 pixels across, but when I set the size to 36 it came out tiny. I'd juss mess around with it until I got it right, but for some reason whenever I try to edit a pre-existing orb the program crashes and I need to make a new one from scratch.

It works fine, I am impressed. However, after changing the start orb some of the icons in the task bar and tray notification area disappear. Rebooting the comp puts them all back.
