This is from the end of last year, and it's my illustration for the month of November from the DN2010 2nd Arc Fanart Calendar . XD; I think that I'm going to, unfortunately, continue the unspoken tradition of not getting any real, new artwork done during my birth month, since I'm working in a cinema now and we're going to be POUNDED with Harry Potter's premier this coming Thursday at midnight/Friday on.Anyway, yes! I figured that this was fine to share now, since nobody will be buying the DN2010 calendar now unless they only want it for the art. : 3
ALSO. |D; It goes without saying, but... I can't draw bouquets to save my immortal soul.

Aww, thank you for saying that-! ♥♥♥ I really wanted to create a more unique picture of the two of them [even though I ended-up drawing it pretty badly] wherein they would look like themselves, but very different than we'd usually see them. Suited-up, poised and formal seemed good- plus, Mello in a suit is a pretty appealing image XD

I've really changed the way that I handle the colouring of hair sine doing this piece, but I'm happy that you liked this method - no method I use is ever truly scrapped, really, because I'm always learning and un-learning techniques XD; I guess that I just need to draw more often!

Well, November 5th is the day that L was murdered, so I wanted to put Mello and Near in a sort of 'solemnly visiting the grave' situation. That's an interesting parallel to draw, though, especially considering the warm autumn tones and Thanksgiving for Americans taking place in November! A macabre combination of a family affair and a visit to a grave site.

I have a lot of trouble drawing young characters, I think XD;; And I'm sure that drawing them both with eyes narrowed and expressions solemn doesn't help them to look like kids at all.
