Description My mom keeps saying that she wants to get an iPad to JUST READ BOOKS... But they were always too expensive (I wonder why.........=_ and she just refuses to read off her laptop...

So with my lack of creativity and art related things lately, I decided to print out a free story online, by her favorite author, that's been translated into Vietnamese, and make it into a physical book with a hardcover... It took 3 days... My whole MLK Jr. weekend... >_> I'm a newbie in bookbinding so I don't know the rules for binding a book... lol

I'm not gonna lie... It was actually fun making it and thinking of ways to go about it.

omg this is awesome! i kind of want to try it now xD how did you print the pages out? just double sided it looks like right?

Yes, I used MS Word. I set the page layout into book fold. If you have a duplex printer have sure that it's printing on the short side or else the pages on the backside will be printed upside down. If you have questions, feel free to ask.

Alright cool! Any specific way you folded the pages and figured out which pages to put together, or can word do that for you? o.o *is totally trying this now*

Haha Word will do most of the work for you. But, it's also helpful to do a test print to see if everything is in order.

Once you've printed your booklet, all you have to do is fold the whole stack in half. The 2 middle pages will be printed last and the first and last page will be printed at the beginning(but probably not at the same time). With thinner booklets you don't really have to cut the pages in half, like I did.

What can't you follow, sir or madame?
If you are talking about the language, it is Vietnamese.
If you are talking about how to make a book, then this isn't a "How to". it's just shows a bit of my progress as I was working and the final product.

The walmarts near em got rid of their sewing/fabric department sadly.

And yes it is. I love tree trunks. xD

O_O That's sad... The fabric I got is in the craft section near the yarn. They come in 18x21 inches and have many patterns for under a dollar.

Tree Trunks is the bomb~!

They do have sewing patterns still though. Maybe I should go look in the craft section. My walmart has a whole section for yarn and when I go there, I am in heaven #2. Heaven #1 is at hobby lobby where they have isles of yarn.... xD

Haha! Yeah. I love going through the yarn aisles. I buy more yarn then I need... but I'm so slow I knitting... lol I've never been to hobby lobby. Should try one of these days.
