Description
I wanted to have boot animation that looks like Navi from Anime: Serial Experiments Lain. Original animation is from dreamingusagi: Lain Navi Os . I modified it a little bit (added one frame and replaced signs Starting Windows and © Microsoft Corporation with signs from Lain) and created boot skin by Win7BootUpdater . There is classic version and stretched version (for 16:9) in RAR file.1. Unpack
2. Run Win7BootUpdater
3. Load Boot Skin
4. Apply
Use it at your own risk (if you run into any problems go to Jeff Bush site).
I hope some Lain fans will make use of it ^^.

Serial Experiments Lain is by far my favorite anime. May I use this as my Android phone bootup animation? I think I know how to do it, I'm just curious if it's okay. I won't do it until you green light this idea.

Lain and I go way back! You see, I have had Google Android devices for a long time. This way I have the Wired (the internet) by my side whenever possible. This is the closest I can get with Lain. I have hundreds of drawings of her I've collected, on my PC.

I tried loading this animation in the boot updater, but for some reason it won't show...(Win7)
Other than that I am experiencing no problems with Win7Bootupdater at all. No crashes, no nothing.
Any suggestions fellas?

If that information isn't shared, it's meaningless. Mere data.

You can look into the link in the description, where you can find lots of useful information, or you can look at one of my posts below for a few tips, or google it. I don't want to lecture you, but Internet is full of people searching for information. If they cant find it , they should ask in forums, so the people who come after them can use this knowledge too. E-mails shouldn't be used for spreading information, cos it's ineffective.

Brilliant! It's a shame most people wouldn't recognize it. I'll have to see if I can make it work with Win 8.

On a side note, I wish there was a full theme/mod to Windows so I can have my Navi hehe.

I wish there was one too. I know it´s not quick and easy to make a really good visual style/theme, but it would be truly awesome to have one ^^.

First, you have to obtain animation(make your own, download animation or convert movie to gif), then you need to extract
animation to sole images , boot animation consits of 105 images (200x200px),
where the last 45 images create a loop so you need to adapt the animation for it(ofc you don't have to). After that,it is a few clicks in a boot loader.
There is a problem if you have a widescreen [originally done for 4:3]), the animation will look squeezed. You need to stretch images before compiling boot animation (if you do the math, you will see that, you need to stretch for size 150x200 [for 16:9], or 167x200[for 16:10], then extend the image to original size). Good for this is any batch processing (i used plugin for Gimp)
I recommend to read coderforlife site (link in description) where you can find additional links and lot of useful information.
