This is an old darwing of the Greek goddess Athena. Pretty straight foward drawing. Its one of the few pieces that I have in color. Done in black ink, Prismacolor colored pencils, and watercolors on recycled paper.Related content

i enjoy the skill you put into this, but i need to always mention this fact, athena was blonde, many of the gods were said to have blonde hair along with almost all the heroes

I love this rendition of Athena. She's looks beautiful and womanly without losing any of her Greek look, or her physical power... just would love to see her in her iconic armor! Love the gorgon shield though

You make Athena look beautiful. Her dress is divine and it's modest. The folds in it make it look realistic. My only criticism is her pose. It's rather static. As the godess of Warfare, I would have thought you might try something more interesting. Or perhaps weaving, seeing as how she did turn Arachne into the world's first spider.

i found out athena is always pictured with an owl on her shoulder but i never draw it with her i love this picture!

There are two sides to Lady Athena. First, there is her warrior side. The storng, wise woman that the myths always point out. Then there is the soft, intelligent, artistic beautiful virgin that is more often than not left behind when people think of Lady Athena. By leaving the helmet off of this picture, you have captured both sides of Lady Athena in the same image! I have been looking for a few images along these lines, and I applaud you for your excellent work!

I've always luved Greek Mythology, and ur drawing of the Goddess Athena gave me goose bumps!
She looks so beautiful, yet so powerful, and the colours actually make the drawing look ANCIENT!

I would have liked to have seen her helmet, but then all of her gorgeous hair would have been blocked. Hmm...difficult choice.
I don't know what's bothering me about her face. Oh, no, it's beautiful, don't mistake me! Maybe the angle of the chin and where she's looking don't match? Maybe it's just my unartistic vision?

Thanks for commenting. I agree about the helmet. I would have liked to include it, but I ran out of hands, and it didn't make sense to have it just lying on the floor. I agree about the hair. I didn't want to give the spear up because then she'd just be standing there with a helmet and a shield. I thought she should have some kind of weapon. I completely agree with your insight about her face. I think I rushed that part, and ink, especially black ink is very unforgiving. But I appreciate your insight. Thanks again.
