From my fanfic "Ryan's Story", here is Harry.

He was Ryan's best friend and teacher when Ryan first came to the Great Northern Railway. He was also a great hero during WWII when he and Ryan had to take a train of supplies for the British Army. It was then that they were under attack by German Aircraft and a truck of supplies caught fire, which was next to a truck of gunpowder. Harry therefore saved everyone's lives by pushing the last few trucks away from the British camp and let the gunpowder take him. There was a special memorial and Harry's glasses were placed among several other caps of fallen British soldiers. From that day on, Ryan has feared anything explosive which somewhat gives a better clue to why he was terrified during the Dynamite scene.
