Euan... Β Remember what we said about Americans. Β They're not all bad. Β Make one more comment like that, and you're blocked again.

Ben, I didn't mean the Americans. I meant the railways.

Well, the railways in America go passed a lot of sights that look almost like a desert and most of the railways are ran by diesels and electric.

I never really like diesels or electrics, one, the diesels damaged the environment more than the steam engines did and two, the electrics use electricity so whenever there's a power cut or a storm that hits the wires, it causes the trains to stop working. I know steam engines breakdown without that much coal or water, but all the same, whenever I'm around steam engines, I feel at home, that's why I don't like diesels or electrics, even though I know some are reliable and helpful.

I see. Β Ya know, though, we all have to use cleaner ways for travel.

Doesn't mean we can't have steam off the mainline.

Well, in the UK, they did make a replica of the Peppercorn A1 called "Tornado". Β I'm sure it was on the main line plenty of times.

I know Tornado, but I don't think he's on the mainline that often, he only pulls light trains.

Also, times are changing, I'm afraid. Β We just have to accept that diesels and electrics are more common on the mainline now. Β And besides, I think they're fascinating, along with steam engines.

Some of that is true but not all of it. There are some railroads that are run by steam engines (but very few). And no, the railroads don't always go through deserts. Some railroads go through prairies or climb mountains. There's a railroad in Glacier National Park, Montana and the mountains there are grand.

I said ALMOST like a desert. And besides, the engines there are much bigger which makes me feel smaller than a miniature engine.

I mean, I'm not trying to offend anyone or any country here, but I actually feel much better when I see engines that are about my size or a little bigger like Flying Scotsman or Thomas, they make me feel at home. In fact, Elizabeth, did you know that the Flying Scotsman came to America once?

I can understand that. But that's just how engine designs improved since Britian was the first and then America. But no, I didn't know FS visited the USA.

I know, still, I'm more proud of our railway heritages, in fact our electric trams were probably the first electric trams ever built!
I thought so, well, he came on a tour to America and had a cowcatcher fitted on him along with a lamp and a bell. However, when he tried to reach New York station, he was out of steam.
Did you know that the Flying Scotsman was the ONLY steam engine to go into New York station?

Well, I didn't either until I watched the DVD of it. Then he went to Australia and then something about going somewhere in England, I'm not actually surprised by that. However, I hear that Thomas is getting new brothers and sisters.
