I can sort of see John Lithgow lending his voice to this fellow. Great work! I really ought to try out this technique sometime.

Yay!
Thank you so much!

This is my first colored ballpoint drawing, but I am still pleased with it.

I had no yellow ballpoint pen for this, but I just ordered some.

I will keep practicing!

I can't remember - was the original drawing in color?

And secondly, what is your opinion of Rio the film that sort of (along with Alpha and Omega) led Pixar to cancel Newt? I can tell you really like Newt!

Yes, the original was done in color.

I have not seen either of those films, but I read a review of Rio here [link] .
First of all, I was quite disappointed that Newt was canceled because some people, who (quite likely) would not know a good story if it fell into their laps, tried to copy Newt.

Secondly, I am disappointed that many believe that Rio is 100% original! No one but an extreme Pixar film buff (or one of my few fans) knows anything about Newt! (by the way, I am glad you seem to be a Pixar buff )

One blessing that has come out of this is that we see that Pixar is unwilling to stoop as low as its competitors. That is one of the many reasons that I like Pixar.

Nonetheless, I still really want to see Rio because it looks like an enjoyable film. It has gotten many good reviews, AND, John Powell scored (wrote music for) it. He wrote for How to Train Your Dragon, Bolt, and a bunch of other great films.

Granted, it seems to be a colorful, fun, and musical movie, but that is not what makes a film excellent (imho). I realize that to most people the sexual innuendo of Rio is tame, but to me it seems very dangerous.

Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Great film is: story, character, story, fun, story, music, and STORY.

I really like what John Powell did for HTTYD (Great soundtrack!)... However, I think that that film could have been better as well. Where is the villain? (the big dragon does not count as a villain!). It definitely was a monumental step in the right direction for Dreamworks.

I am waiting for Cars 2. And yes. It will be fantastic.
