The funny thing is that there technically IS a Waspinator in RiD from the phone app, though there's also two different Scorponoks, so no real harm done here.

This version sprung up after reading some plot details for Bayformers 5, which say the new protagonist for the fifth round will be an orphan girl and her diminuitive Transformer friend. Regretfully, fandom response went south rather quickly, and while the fandom was making... less that tasteful jokes about her and Cade Jaeger, I wondered how such a concept could be used else where. Well, Transformers Victory aside anyway.

I thought it might be interesting concept to see in RiD using a Decepticon, and eventually landed on the image of Waspinator trying to take care of a little kid.

On Cybertron, Waspinator wanted to be more than just a clumsy bungler and wanted to be a hero of justice! He had no real friends, his fighting ability was minimal at best (despite being a member of the feared Insecticon Cyberbee swarms), and despite being well-meaning came off as incredibly annoying. Wanting to improve himself, Waspinator thought about joining the Autobot Academy until a new group caught his attention. He initially joined the Decepticons as they were on a crusade of justice against a seemingly oppressive system, but when the war spiraled out of control, Waspinator quit and became something of a vigilante, trying to protect the innocents. Mostly this amounted to him being a glorified meat shield, and thanks to his unusual durability, Waspinator's been able to bounce back from just about anything including the Simanzi Massacre. He seems to attribute this to being part Junkion on his motherboard's side. Despite his good deeds, Waspinator was still thrown on the Alchemor for his association in early Decepticon bombing raids... despite the fact he shot most of his own Seekers... by mistake.

Since coming to Earth, he's taken to scavenging and wallowing in self pity, not even Steeljaw found any use for the Cyberbee, and he utilized that wimpy snitch Clampdown. TWICE even. Fearing he was no good to anyone, he was able to rescue Mini-Con Injector who'd gotten tangled in some electrical lines and later came across the human Jasper. The little homeless girl had stumbled upon the two in an alley trying to syphon energy out of some decrepit lawnmowers in the garbage. The were initially terrified of a human seeing them and stupidly tried to Transform in front of her to hide themselves. Instead they were surprised to find Jasper wasn't scared, and in fact was a big fan of bugs like them, proudly showing off her dirty Mr. Honeycomb doll she'd been dragging around.

After protecting the girl from some local thugs that had been following her, Waspinator became her hero, much to his surprise and joy. From then on, he decided he would be her "caretaker bot" after having found out those thugs were responsible for her being on the streets in the first place. Unfortunately, having no real human currency to speak of they had to resort to stealing food and resources to keep Jasper healthy and happy. One day, the bubbly Jasper became very ill, and with no knowledge on human medicine, the Decepticons began raiding pharmacy stores to find something that would make her better. This caught the attention of Strongarm, who thought the Cons might've been stealing drugs to synthesize a rudimentary fuel to use for a space shuttle. The cadet followed the two back to the alleys, and misunderstandings and skirmishes ensued. Battered and bruised, Waspinator refused to back down, fearing the Autobots might take Jasper away from him, and despite getting in a good few stings, Strongarm managed to finally swat him down. Threatening to permanently deactivate him if he kept it up, Strongarm and Waspinator were both surprised to find the ill Jasper shield and defend the bugbot...! Now, Waspinator had his own hero, as this girl had given Strongarm pause and the realization she misjudged the situation. Soon after, she took them to get proper medical attention with Denny (to help get Jasper into the hospital) and Fixit.

Wow, that rambled on. I had initially thought of making a comic about Waspinator battling Strongarm and Sawtooth (her Mini-Con in the toyline), but decided to just jot down what I was initially thinking for this group.
