Description
I had been keeping an eye on this new Transformers subline and future television series for a while now.Called Transformers Rescue Bots, it follows the adventures of a secrete team of Autobots and Humans who use their special skills to defend humanity from natural disasters and crime.
Perhaps a reboot of the original Transformers Playskool outings, this series is really aimed at a much younger demographic compared to Transformers Prime. That said, seeing how mature and sinister Prime can be (in addition to still managing to be somehow dull), this toyline and TV series set to air sometime next year on The Hub should balance out the appropriate dose of entertainment between both age groups.
Then again, if today's generation are growing up on the mindlessly brutal Bayformers, then Prime really shouldn't be that much of a concern in hindsight, but I do like they're at least considering a much more light hearted approach that hasn't been seen since Animated's departure.
Which is what led to this.
While I'm clearly not the intended age group, I can't help but be attracted to Rescue Bots over Prime. That owes itself primarily to its intended, simple premise which seems to be a late response to Machine ROBO Rescue ([link] ) which is part of the Japanese line of the GoBots.
Unlike previous Transformers titles, Rescue Bots seems to exclude any one of the Con variety, though if they were there, the ever obligatory Megatron, Starscream and presumably Soundwave would be involved I'm sure. After all, the new Autobot line up has all newbies outside of the obligatory Optimus and 'Bee. I am a little curious as to why the obligatory Ratchet (as of the Movie-verse) wasn't included here though.
Despite there not being any 'Cons so far in Rescue Bots, the inclusions of the Predacons was something I was tinkering with for a more wide appeal, all ages type of comic book.
Why the RiD Predacons? They were always my favorite, and as this sort of sounds similar to the RiD concept, it seemed wrong not to draw them.
What I was initially thinking was that instead of the Decepticons, the Predacons (which would include others like Waspinator, Rampage, Bruticus, Hydra, etc.) would be the antagonists in addition to the criminals and disasters. In fact, the Predacons would be a type physical manifestation of the disasters with each one controlling a certain element (Sky-Byte-Water, Gas Skunk-Earth for example) and using it in addition to their other abilities (Shark Missiles, Gas Attack) to oppress the Autobots.
Though whether this makes them Cybertronian or some kind of alternate alien entities that happen to be Transformers as well (the case for a few Brave series), I'm not sure.
I actually thought of pitching this to IDW for a light hearted approach to counteract the mindnumbingly serious nature the current G1 story line has been taking lately. I doubt they would take it, but hey a little diversity never hurt anything.

Well, I'll say this: Your concept isn't far off. In fact, it was even utilized in Machine Robo Rescue.

So I saw upon rewatching some of it~
Though most of what I know of MRR is its catchy theme music.

The Predacons from the Neo Anime are cool, I wish they got a new chance like being good guys or something, I felt pity to some of them for they are dinosaurs that are suppose to be good. And I feel pity for Hydra for being alone with only a maid-bot.

Yay for Gas Skunk, and especially, Sky-Byte! Gotta love that shark!
You'd have Darkscream and Slapper in there, right?

Sky-Byte: Who's the smartest shark around? Sky-Byte! That's meeeeeee!
But of course! Wouldn't be the same without DarkScream and Slapper.

After all the talk about Transformers since I watched you with a mix of the third movie I'm starting to get into the series myslef (Just a little bit). Do you have a OC with an Autobot?

Well, in the Transformers Axium Nexus Zone Guard story I do from time to time, Blue has a special suit called a "Transtector" that allows him to become an Autobot called Bluestreak.
He is partnered with other Autobots and Maximals (the decendents of the Autobots in Beast Wars) a lot, but more commonly he's partnered with Wreck-Gar, Bulkhead, Bumblebee, or Shiftkick and Burnrubber (the later two are OCs of a friend).

Well, I think he's a semi truck like his G1 counterpart since he shares the near exact same design.
There's a fire truck with this group of Autobots called Heatwave though.

Me: I've got my reasons for saying 'no' to having my eight Element Autobots a part of this new TF thing.

I dunno, Prime actually seems like a series of shortened movies - which isn't bad, because it combines the classic value of G1 with the darker sci-fi edge of the Movieverse! But, hey, YMMV, as the saying goes.

Yeah, what I like about Prime is that's essentially the Movie-Verse done in a more... eh... "believable" way if you know what I mean. I haven't seen too much G1 infused with it though, at least outside of Peter Cullen and Frank Welker reprising their iconic roles.
YMMV?

Your Mileage May Vary...and when I said the G1 thing, I meant the varied stories that call up more about Cybertron's history and mythos, like the original cartoon - besides, it's the only piece of readily-available TF I can get (till DotM comes out on Bluray )

Just happy t' help, Mr. Blue! (I do this because I don't feel I have the privilege of the whole "First Name basis" thing...)
What would make me happier is if they decided to reintroduce the Combiners into mainstream TF media...Devastator and Defensor with renewed looks would DEFINITELY make my day!

Oh it's okay. You can refer to me by my first name if you want.
Heh, while I didn't mind the break of Combiners, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing them in action again.
I had heard that there could be some Combiners in Prime, but I don't remember who specifically. I think Devastator was mentioned.

Well, Bayformers IS PG-13 and it shows, but for some reason, people take their kids to see it anyways. *le sigh* I think there should always be some lighthearted side to Transformers, considering how serious bidness it can get.
Is it, what, Rescue Heroes meets Transformers Go-Bots? Sounds like it could be fun. Glad Hasbro still keeps these sort of things in consideration.

Oh yes, very, as it was once said "it gets real old. Real fast".
Pretty much as far as I can tell. The only medium I've read about is that there was a storybook released with one of the toys, and it harks of Rescue Heroes but with Autobots.
Oh yes, very, very, very much.

Interesting. When I saw the title I immediately thought Tomica's two tokusatsu series: Rescue Force and Rescue Fire.

I had heard of Rescue Fire, mostly due to it being the show that aired before Transformers Animated in Japan. Especially where Bumblebee was a fan of the show apparently and it was referenced a couple of times in the Japanese Version.
I'm not familiar with Rescue Force though.

Rescue Force is the prequel and deals more with disasters then fire.
What makes Rescue Fire even better is that JAM Project sang the first opening.
I have question that is every Transformers fan's mind that will never be answered: Japan what was that freaky shadow guy at the beginning of the Tranformers Animated Japanese Dub?

BlueIke In reply to KaijuKorps [2011-08-14 23:58:04 +0000 UTC]
Good ol' JAM Project!
My guess is that he's the TFA equilivant to D-Void ([link] ), a sinister entity that debuted in the IDW Transformers comics after Animated ended ironically.
Though artistically, Freaky Shadow Guy probably was just meant to represent the evil of the Decepticons and the Supervillains invading Earth.
