Description Chris Eccleston's short lived, but memorable, stint as the 9th Doctor revived the long dormant series. He gave the Doctor some "street cred." as it were, and helped elevate the concept. He is my third favorite Doctor and he is missed in the role.

And 'lo, the house did reverberate with muffled sobs as the Ninth became the Tenth...

Amen.

Well thank you . The technique is fairly simple. I use the airbrush tool and the paint brush tool, adjusting the settings a lot and relying on my Wacom to do most of the hard work....then I add a little noise and magic charcoal effect bursts into being.

As for Doctor Who, I wasn't really a fan until this new series. I LOVED Tom Baker as a kid, watching late night Doctor Who on PBS, but it's nostalgia more than actual quality that makes me look back on the 4th Doctor as my favorite. The newly resurected Doctor Who series is fantastic...it takes the original concept and really elevates it. It's about a space and time traveling half human alien that is extremely clever, witty, crazy and carries a deep sense of purpose and a strong moral center. He was an outcast from his race, which were called Timelords and due to a devastating time war he is now the last of his race. He is practically an immortal, and when his body is near death he can regenerate. That is how they have explained all the incarnations. He is never the same after a regeneration. He has the same memories, but how he responds to things is based a lot on the DNA of his new form. So anyway...he gets lonely and finds companions to travel with. He loves showing off the universe and travels in a POLICE phone box simply because his ship's cloaking device got stuck in that form.

Things that I think you might like about the new series: The tone, writing and social attitudes. The new show has made a point of showing that humanity in the future has had to adapt to other worlds and species, including romantic entanglements, so when man has moved on past worrying about species, then gender is no big deal at all. There is this really gorgeous character called Jack Harkness that the Doctor meets that spends a good deal of his day chasing tail...male or female...it's awesome...

OK..I have rambled on enough. If you get the chance, maybe give the new series a look see. Depending on the region code of your DVD player I may be able to lend you my copies through lokotei sometime.

Thanks...I feel the same way when I look at the Rimmer portrait you did. I mean it when I say it has a place of honor on my wall.
