Description That's just a sketch for an alternative reality essay:

After the victory on the Civil War, and after escape from an attempt of murder, the president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, gives an interview to Karl Marx, from New York Tribune.
After leave London in 1855, Marx is established in Chicago, where he writes for some german-american papers and lectures at Chicago Normal School.
Marx, on his articles, praises Lincoln for his efforts against the slavery.

It could be great!
Can you imagine a history like that; Lincoln survives the assassination attempt, takes command of the reconstruction of the South, and Marx writing about this.
It could be happen in our reality.

You get the impression Lincoln was baffled by this cryptically complimentary letter

'"Relation of capital to labour"? Er.. what? O_o But thanks! '

"These capitalists generally act harmoniously, and in concert, to fleece the people, and now, that they have got into a quarrel with themselves, we are called upon to appropriate the people’s money to settle the quarrel."~ Abraham Lincoln.

As a history dork, I'm enthused!
