A little bit of fan-ception with this piece: it's a fanart of a fanfic called Amelioration, written by by TurtleNovas and available on Ao3.
This drawing illustrates what happens in the very beginning of the fic.
Right after the end of season 2, Steve is in bad shape and this will have a lot of consequences. Dustin understands that the situation is more serious than anyone imagined and freaks out, only to realize he's gonna have to go and help Steve himself because the persons that should care about him... well... don't.

Amelioration is one of the only Steve/Dustin fanfictions from Sranger Things that exist in this world, and it sets the bar very high for the concurrence that we hope to see rising soon. These two characters have amazing chemistry in the show, as well as the actors offset, but they are very rarely shipped because of the age gap between them, and mostly because of how young Dustin is. Dustin is 12 and Steve is 17. However, I don't see why they can't be shipped in a later timeline, when Dustin is older, after they both grow and develop their friendship fully and beautifully, and I feel like their relationship would be absolutely great. Another argument against the importance of their age gap is that they are quite close in mental age. Dustin is very smart, while Steve... well, he has a good heart.

So because they are my two favourite characters (and I never needed more than that anyways) I obviously ship them. And if you are interested to see how great they are together, or if you don't believe me (which is foolish of you because you should know I'm always right), you have to read Amelioration. This fic is a super sweet, slow burn, drama-filled, very realistic and emotional story, and it's as long as a novel, which is just amazing because as you read it, you never want it to end.
