This hasn't scanned in all that well, but I'm happy with how the original looks. For Groot, I started by adding the green parts, which I felt would heighten the plant-like nature of him, and would add a little bit more visual interest once I added the wooden colours. I think this has worked well enough, though maybe I should have added a touch more green. I'm also pretty pleased with how the wooden colours themselves have turned out, as they look quite natural and textured, though I wish the shadows on them could have stood out a bit more. To do Rocket's fur, I built up a few different layers of warm greys, using short, quick pen strokes. I'm happy with how this effect has turned out, and I'll have to remember it for future drawings. I think Rocket's jumpsuit looks decent enough, and though the blue might be a little bit too bright, I don't think it ruins the picture. It's not super noticeable, but I did add some whiskers to Rocket using a white gel pen, and while it's only a small effect, I'm glad I included it. I threw the red in the background to make the figures stand out, and yeah, they do now. So overall, this could have been a bit better, but I'm happy enough with it.
