It was one of those brilliant ideas that on closer inspection was quite foolish. 2024 was the 50th anniversary of the Kinder egg there needed to be quite a celebration. It is lost to the sands of time whose idea it was, but the marketing team had the idea to shrink one of the staff and place them in a kinder egg. At the festivities everyone would open their egg simultaneously and for one lucky person, the Ferraro representative would hop out, like a fairy, granting them a year of chocolate and a go cart decorated like one of the traditional toys. The marketing lead, Maria, loved the idea so much she volunteered to be the tiny spokesperson.

Shrinking went fine and except for some Alice in Wonderland visual effects, Maria was in high spirits when she stepped inside the egg. She clutched her knees to her chest as they sealed the egg. A bit of the luster wore off as childhood fears of the dark and small spaces nibbled at her. As her egg was picked up and began to be tilted in all sorts of directions she began to panic. Being tossed into a bag of hundreds of eggs, her pleas were unheard. Between a growing nausea from being tossed about and a decreased oxygen content from her screams, Maria soon passed out.

Everyone who came to the celebration had a blast. When it was time to announce the winner, everyone joyfully cracked their egg, but Maria was no where to be found. To not cause a panic, the marketing team just selected their plant in the audience to be the winner and set up people at the exits to try and find Maria.

That night, Ricky collapsed into his chair glad to be done with his deliveries for the day. He felt a slight crack in his pocket and recalled the Kinder egg he was given as he dropped off some last minute supplies to the staff.

Pulling out the chocolate, he began to eat pieces surprised when a small doll fell out. He played with it on his palm. It was limp and moved fluidly. It had a sweet face, as he studied it, her eyes popped open and she announced he had won. He brushed her hair and said that he surely had.
