Description
This is Jun Santos and his sister Arlene. He has the world's most incredible car and he uses it, not for truth and justice, but for street racing!Street racing...
That is until he learns to become a hero and uses the car to protect the west coast and anywhere he is needed.
Jun Santos is a original character that I created years ago with help from my friend Julius Aguimatang. Back then we wanted to create a Filipino-American hero that we could relate to. Hopefully soon we will see Jun racing around saving the world.

For a Filipino-American, there seems to be an awful lot of Hawaiian bling going on. Gotta remedy that ASAP with some real Filipino wear

I wanted Jun to have a city he can protect, much like Batman has Gotham City. I just thought it would be cool if it was a place that people in San Diego would recognize and still sound cool. So National City is it! Plus I used to hang around there also helps. My Posse is on Highland!
And actually Jun drives a Missan Zentra. (for legal reasons). Wassup!

I went to El Toyon Elementary (go Eagles!). Lots of good times there, Good friends and teachers. I just hope the gangs didn't ruin the neighborhood and all. Pretty much non-existent when I was there in the 80s.

Out of curiosity, :0 the sign behind them says "Welcome to National City"? Don't know how many National cities there are out there, but certainly reminds me of one prominent filipino area in the southern part of San Diego! Is that the reference?

That is the reference. I grew up in San Diego and I wanted Jun to be the same. So he hangs out in all the familiar places.
I like how National City sounds too, it sounds like a big area where things go down.
Batman has Gotham, Superman has Metropolis... Jun has National City.

haha definitely agree. Nice reference :] I grew up in that area when i was younger. It'd be cool to have a hero who roamed the streets of National City, saving helpless citizens. When that happens, you better start doing a comic about it!

I have an uncle with the same name...I was just at his house for his grandson's baptism. That being said, I would have to read this comic if and when it comes out. Heh, finally a character with which I can relate to by nationality.

When I created this character I wanted a name that sounded very filipino to me. At one point I was thinking Jun Cruz. The only problem was that I went to high school with a Jun Cruz.
It's always cool when you can relate to the character, it makes him more realistic. I totally plan on him eating lumpia and adobo and constantly being compared to his smarter and younger sister, by all his relatives.
Say hi to the family for me, especially Uncle Jun!

This is hard. I remember seeing this at the SDCC. I didn't mention it but I was wondering when you were going to do something reflecting your heritage. Comics need more diversity, it makes life more exciting! You and Wilce need to do something.

I am a Filipino that was born and raised in America.
So I wanted Jun to be the same. We both are second generation here and we kinda understand Tagalog but don't really speak it.

Well, I'm half Filipino and British, was raised here on the Philippines. And I still couldn't speak Tagalog fluently.

But I do have cousins in Hawaii. And I've been to Maui and Kauai.
Arlene does go to UH and Jun went to Southwestern Community College.

All I know, in my case, my parents wanted me to be a doctor or a lawyer and I didn't want to go in that direction. So, I tended to draw alot when I was younger and doodle on everything. I'm sure that's probably alot of artist's background here on DA.
