I had something in mind (clearly in mind) when I shot this, so yeah. I've seen few pieces with a theme similar to this one recently and they all provoke a sort of painful knot in my chest. I wanted to achieve the same reaction.There's a knife in the background, if I could shoot this again I'd move it to the foreground.

Yes, I ate the pear immediately after I was done. And (since the three chopped up ones were apples,) I made apple sauce which is now sitting in my fridge
