Looking at his hand and that sword I can't see why he couldn't use it. Personally I like the way it shines and the whole picture is great too. The way you managed to make beliveable lighting with markers is amazing, the details rock too.

Oi, very nice! I love the backbone-thingy behind him. *Is a big fan of cute skeletons for some reason* I'm wondering how did you color the blue cresent behind him? I first looked that this is a marker drawing, but the details say it's a painting. His position and expression looks good and nothing beats the earthly colors! ^^
