Description Unlike what many people assume, eugeneodontids were not true sharks, but were closer related to ratfish within Holocephali. A peculiarity about some modern ratfish are their mating tentacles, a cephalic clasper which is used to latch onto females during intercourse. Here, speculative relatives of ornithoprion are reconstructed having sex using an analogous feature.
