Well, this was unexpected...As I'm sure some of your know, I've never entered an 'Inktober' event, and I had actually stated that this year was to be no exception. However, having a look at inktober pieces filling up my Twitter and DA feeds this morning I thought it might actually be a nice thing to have a go.
For a while now I feel like I've been overcomplicating things art wise, so this is a nice way of taking a step back and simplifying things a little. It's also nice way of properly attempting Monochrome illustration again, something I haven't done in just over four years! I forgot how relaxing cross hatching and identifying light/dark areas could be. I also want to have a go at drawing more OctaScratch themed stuff again, given the simple designs of the characters, this is a nice little springboard back into that.
I'm not planning to do a full 31 days, mainly due to October being my busiest month of the year, but a reduced Mon, Wed, Friday Inktober certainly seems manageable at the moment. We'll see how it goes.

Actually no, I quite like it.
People underestimate just how difficult it can be to colour an image with just black and white, you have to think a bit about negative space and how it affect an image. Adding different tones using different types of strokes, hatching and crosshatching also adds an extra challenge

Oh yeah, I know it's really hard; I've read pretty much every Tex Willer comic dad has which are drawn like this, maybe with more detail, and I can believe it's really hard.

Buy a big rug. My old apartment had a wood-panel floor in the living room that was always super cold when barefoot in the mornings, but putting down a big rug on the floor helped to fix that problem.
