Made as a design for the We Love Fine 'Ponies vs Villains' contest back in early 2013.

I tried to think of something unique to draw for the contest, but in the end I just ended up redesigning my 'Journey Through the Catacombs' image from a while back. Even though I prefer this version over the original, I'm still going to keep that one on-line given it was my 100th deviation. This was actually the first proper use of my new graphics tablet, and it helped so much with getting the design in on time, a task made harder by the fact I only had 48 hours to make it in!

Part of me was also considering giving Vinyl the fedora that the Phantom wears during this scenes, and for quite a while it did appear in the image, alas at the final minute I decided to remove it as the tall feather attached to it meant the design would appear smaller on the shirt printing area!

Also, for the record, part of me would really like a life sized candle holder like that!

RANDOM QUESTION: I've had someone comment on the contest page that the faces are weird. I'm not taking it to heart given they didn't outline what made them weird, but it's got me thinking. I've been drawing ponies like this for almost a year now, do they look weird to you?
