Description
This is my most current painting. It took meabout 2 weeks to do. It is in acrylic on illustration board. I was using a new technique to do it. Its a different way to start the painting. That made it very interesting. I hope that you guys enjoy it!-Drew Bob <^.^>

I'm blown away by the richness of this painting! Gorgeous! I especially enjoy the movement and blur of the background, which helps us focus on the subject in front. What a painterly pose, too; very refreshing. Gorgeous piece, brilliantly executed. You're one of the best painters I'ver ever seen in my life.

Wow, well thank you very much! You are very kind. I have always wanted to be an artist even when I was 5, so it means a lot to hear such fantastic complements.

Beautiful coloring and structure yet again. I see a lot of nice thin layering compare to the thick ones you apply to oil.
I have some questions when I look at her cheek and mouth, it seem pushed to the left? A bit of weird alignment to my eyes... @_@

It is some weird shadowing in the face honestly. Very difficult to work with. The photo of it is also a little lighter and I think that makes the highlights in the shadows push forward a bit more. I hadn't noticed it untill you said it. And I don't have the original neer me to check.

Then it's a Danish hotdog van in Poland. I'm quite sure that the word "pΓΈlser" (sausages) only exists in Denmark.

Actually it isn't either one. It is Norway. I don't know how I forgot. In Norwedian pΓΈlser also means sausages, and the signs are red white and blue because they are the national colors. I didn't know that Danish for sausages was pΓΈlser too. Interesting...

bobtheraccoon In reply to ManipulativeBastard [2006-11-17 22:32:47 +0000 UTC]
It is starting with a very dark wash of a solid common color over my underdrawing and then starting the painting ontop of that as a base.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. I've been working more on my color play in the shadows, so that is nice to hear.

Very good work and technique is interesting. I usually always put underpainting darker that it suppose to be. I like the result.

Thank you. Yeah, our underpainting was supposed to be pretty dark on this one.
