Great photo! I am an artist and I was wondering if you would give me permission to use your photo as a reference in a painting. I would give you credit for it. My website is ppendergast.com. Thanks, Patty

Your photos are absolutely incredible. Generally how far away are you from your subjects with a certain lens, i.e. 500mm for example. Or with the focal length of this photo? Thanks.

really close distance ,depend what I want to catch like shot ,buzzards in action shots 20 meters even less, for small birds closer distance .Very often using 400 2.8 @2.8 when light is poor or try to separate bird from backgroud

Ok brilliant, thank you. As I only have the 300mm f4 IS atm. Would you say it'd be worth getting a 2x extender because i'm thinking would f8 be too slow of an aperture for something that needs such fast focusing? Plus at f8 i'd need to be fairly close to even get a shallow depth of field.. ?

300 f4 work very well with 1.4X extender ,but af with 2x is very slow and I think only on 1D camera bodies ,become dark and can be nightmare for action shots ,not worth it at all

This is a Hawk, not to be confused with a buzzard.
