Oh, don't feel bad about that! It is much more difficult- in my humble opinion- to do such smaller pieces as this! It was the real reason I made myself do some like this: the challenge! It has taken me quite some time to be able to controll my medium enough to do such tiny work as this! You'll get there- trust me! And thanks for visiting my DA gallery! I have been looking at yours for a bit now- you have some great ideas going on there. Do more sculpts and do them as often as you can- you will hone your craft quickly that way!

Oh, thank you! I'm working on with some new sculpt-doll right now.. but making the hair takes time :/
You know, I have so small hands that you would think I can make small and detailed thinks.. but I can't.. yet

Heh heh...you should see how small my own hands are- at least for a man! It helps with such delicate work!
I can't wait to see your latest! The hair always takes me a long time too!

Yeah, it's going to take a little while
But you inspired me, yesterday I started to make some small things: faerie and my first dragon!! well, the faerie got little ruined in the oven :/ I have to do some coverings
I have to bo little more careful with the dragon, it's still in the skeleton-stage

I find that- as when cooking regular food- often times a lower temp and a longer baking/cooking time helps prevent that. Also, you may want to try a very thin coating of diluted TLS or some other such substance. It helps to prevent buring and allows for a more even cure time.
I'm glad to hear that I inspired you to give it a shot!!! It is a nice feeling to think that might inspire anyone!!

Yeah, Cernit should be baked in 130 celsius and about 15-30 min (it sais so in the label..) I bake them in about 125 celsius and 15 mins, but sometimes the mixed cesnits tend to be so soft that they fall Gwen wanted to go to every kind of directions in every baking times

You need to start doing armatures for them, even if they aren't poseable- that will help with drooping and such. I have to admit that I'm not quite as familiar with cernit and it's characteristics, but you may want to try an even lower temp and an even longer baking time, that way it could harden while the temp only gradually increased and the piece might not sag quite as much? Maybe??? I don't know for sure, but the theory is sound. I've learned much of these kind of things through my own trial and error.

Yeah, I use wire inside every sculptings, and first I did just a "skeleton" from white cernit and baked it and then did the "skin" and other stuff.. I think the pose was the reason of falling
I'm not really sure what would be the best way to bake cernit.. sometimes if I don't bake them enough (time) they can crumble
And that cernit what is meant for making dolls is harder that those regular cernits.. its so hard to work, make it smooth and stuff.. and I have worked with that kind of cernit in my last 3 (2 still unfinished..) things and now I just used those regulars in a mix so it was easier to sculpt, but at the same time harder to control..
(sorry if this doesn't make any sense, it's been awhile since I've been in an english-class )(ended school last year, now unemployed..)

Have you ever tried ProSculpt or Super Sculpey? There are many on-line sources for them- give those a shot! You should also check out 's tutorials. She is a great lady and very knowledgable! Here's the link for that: [link]

I have to see what our shops has to offer.. there where I usually buy my hobby-things has only cernit (and that white or brown stuff that hardens by itself, but I don't like that), but that store got to bankruptcy (it still existsbut not long, so I gotta go to buy some more cernits and other stuff from there today )
I should try other thing, but I really can't paint anything (my brother is good at those kind of this, he's so accurate)
And now I'm going to check that tutorial

I actually try to blend the colored polymer clays as much as I can instead of painting them- Sculpey III and Premo are good to combine with smaller amounts of Super Sculpey. But I do paint some of them- all my Pine Sprites are done with just regualr Sculpey and then painted in acrylics. I figured many of the actual shops throughout Europe would not carry Sculpey nor ProSculpt, as they US products, and Cernit is more internationally known. Still, you should be able to find many on-line sources for a lot of different brands of polymer and two part epoxy clays. If you would like for me to send you any links, just let me know.

It's just that I don't like to order things outside from Finnland, it gets to expensive :/ I collect toys (like Care Bears) and I would LOVE to order some from eBay of yahoo or something, but I don't have a credit card and the other payment methods are just so complicated I'd buy with bank transfer but everyone doesn't "approve" that
But, hey, I finally finished that "coming soon" thingie.. postin pics soon (well, I have posted them when you read this )

Does PayPal work there? I know many European countries can send with it, but not receive payment. It's pretty easy and very reliable, but otherwise, I can see your point. That isn't fair, I wish it were different for you!
Can't wait to see new stuff!!!!
