Really an awesome work. I've always wondered how to create these smooth gradient wallpapers. Are you simply using gradients or is there a trick

I'm using the brush tool with gaussian blur mostly. The trick to making the gradients smooth is to use a high bit depth (16 bits per channel) and a subtle noise. Then, when you go back to 8 bits per channel for the final image, the noise creates sort of a dithering effect and prevents banding from appearing.
