Dramatic Polly!First page here: [link]
Last page here: [link]
Actually laying out pages instead of copy-pasting scattered sketches would have made this look so much better
But yes, Mal's situation was painted as pretty dang serious in Monstrous Regiment, so I have to wonder, would she not be able to come right back the way Otto and other background vampires do? Discworld vampires don't all go by exactly the same rules, so maybe coming back would be difficult for her, but who knows.
One more page coming. Hopefully it won't be as HUGE as this one.
Monstrous Regiment chars belong to Terry Pratchett.

Somehow, I thought it was different with a Stake death. Otto's repeated reincarnations were after accidents with his camera's flash.
Even so, out in the battlefield it might be tricky to try to sweep up all the ashes for later re-vivification.

Dramatic!Polly is dramatic. And I figured that they just diddn't *know* Vampires could be resurrected- Abomination Unto Nuggian and all, wot wot.
Besides, in a battle the fear would be the ashes, I would think...

It would definitely be best to avoid a slaying, but I still couldn't help wondering if it was absolutely a life or death situation for Mal. Maybe Igor had a dustpan and a jar ready to keep safe until later

Hmm. Well, It's all Polly's PoV so any undue stress from the thought of the Vapmire 'dying' is all her.
So I think for Malachi, the 'Life or Death' part of the equation was more for her allies than for her...
Ew. I bet if you're ashes were mixed with dirt, it's all grotty when you 'wake up' again.

I recall Otto 'waking up' with a carpet's pattern on his cloak or something, after some of its lint got mixed in his ashes. No fun at all ^_^;

That's right- in the Particians office, at that. I imagine it's murder on your laundry. ><
