Description This is my latest render of the MA5C. I finally got round to UVW mapping the main body, and have made a rough skin for it. When I get a chance I'll come back to it and do a proper skin for it.

that is awesome. do you know of any place i could go to learn to make stuff like that. i like to build things and this would be something new to try

Hey Thanks, Im glad you like it.

Erm, Ive mainly taught myself through trial and error, but looking at tutorials on CGTutorials helped alot.

Side, top views etc would be good but there's enough there to get me started. Would be easier just to make the thing as a solid piece and then cast it... but i'd like some bells and whistles and moving parts in it and it's an opportunity to try out some different techniques. I'll keep you posted.

Brilliant, thats just what i was looking for. [link] a mottled texture on the foregrip and stock that i think would be really effective. I got sidetracked today looking at the NTW-20 in District 9... a 2 metre sniper rifle (there's a version in Halo i think). Just imagining what that would look like on the wall!! Have posted some pix of the Hellboy gun ([link] ) i did a while back if you're interested. Back to work.

What i meant by that mangled post is there's a mottled effect on a couple of parts of the rendered gun and it would be interesting to include them.

That hellboy guns pretty damn nice and yeah, that NTW-20 is very similar to the S2 AM rifle in Halo.
Yeah, the mottled effects are there to show some wear and tear to the gun, rather than having flat colour and it looking a bit boaring.

Thanks alot dude!, the materials where only ment as a rough copy, I just havent had the time recently to go back and re-do them (also Vray makes anything look good )

Love it. I'm in the process of actually building from this, I've looked at some fan builds and conceptual art but yours is the best - clean, streamlined and functional. I'm thinking of casting the top of the gun in a metal powdered resin - so it will look like steel. The bottom half in black/grey resin... were these the materials you envisaged? Any further pix or renders would be great. Just finished a tommy gun [link] and need a new project. Cheers

Oh wow! That Tommy gun looks amazing!
I’m honoured that you think my model is that good
As for materials, yeah that was pretty much how I envisaged it.
Its supposed to be a light, portable but sturdy rifle, and if you go by the Halo literature (Here )it does say its made from "titanium alloy and polymer", so resin and metal sounds pretty close
If I have some time I'll try and get some better renders done. Is there anything in particular that would help you?
