Finally finished my first picture collab with and I really like how it turned out. I really love Earthsong's style so the character designs and idea were done by her while I gave it color and a background. This is a piece depicting the conflict between Scorpan and Tirek in the ancient times. My style of critiquing here is going to be a bit different from how I normally do it because of how complex this picture is.
Vision: Everything about this picture here is completely attention-grabbing, from the small details in the background like the Tartaurus lava and volcano to every single detail on Tirek and Scorpan. All the hair, teeth, and muscles, just every attention to detail is very well-done, and the light and shading do belong where they're supposed to be. However, if there is one thing I've noticed, it's the fact that Scorpan does seem a bit too realistic. I understand this is more meant to be a semi-realistic piece, but even Tirek's design in this seems more true to the simplistic cartoony style of the show. You can probably use the fact that we never got to see an official design for Scorpan other than that storybook style in the flashback, but he still seems to really stand out in this picture.
Originality: This piece doesn't hesitate to seize the opportunity for a fan interpretation of a potential scene in the show that we never got to see in flashback. The picture alone really portrays Scorpan's and Tirek's sibling rivalry in a very powerful way.
Technique: As I said, I can really see where you tried on this piece to get down all those petty little details, and the blending and the applied brushstrokes work very well in the drawing. I have no points to take off from your technique.
Impact: While not the greatest piece of MLP fanart I've seen, this definitely still is one that I can look at over and over again because of the style and the broken family moment.

SCORPAN: You're wrong, Tirek! You went down a wrong path long ago and you have allowed this...Tambelonian outlaw to give you a frozen heart and I have followed you just to make sure you were safe in our youth; But now, you're going down a path where I can't follow!
TIREK: Do not try to reason with me, Scorpan! You were always an annoyance to me, but do you know what I hate about you the most?...You were always the favorite son!!!
SCORPAN: Because I was never born with magic like you were?!
TIREK: Exactly! And if you won't help me steal all the magic in Equestria...then I guess I'll have to do everything myself, even if it means getting to those precious ponies of yours!
SCORPAN: I will not fight you, brother!
TIREK: I'm not your brother...I never was.
SCORPAN: Tirek, I will not let you harm the ponies of Equestria, for they are my friends!! And if you wanna get to them...then you'll have to go through me first!
TIREK: So be it, then!

That's kind of how I would see the dialogue between them.

Scorpan looked at his brother sternly.
"I already see the end of this fight!"
Rainbow Dash: "Scorpan! 
Tirek raised his arm, in a pose to chop Scorpan in two. However, the winged fighter braced his arms, catching it...
Tirek:"...?! What?! This is my style!!"
Twilight Sparkle: "Scorpan is siphoning energy from the natural surroundings..."
Scorpan: "Have you forgotten Tirek, that I learned by watching you?!"
Tirek was stunned, as Scorpan let out a mighty roar, the winged fighter's body bulking with muscle tone!
Fluttershy: "Scorpan's body...!"
Scorpan was soon in similar strong shape similar to Tirek.
Scorpan: "You and I share the same blood. Therefore, I learned your style from you!"
Tirek: "The siphoning fist is mine...!"
A powerful aura resonated from Scorpan.
Scorpan: "My goal was always to beat you.... HUAH!"
Scorpan punched right up Tirek's chest, ripping the black fabric open. He collapsed on all four of his legs.
"Tirek... I"ll use this style only once. I won't ever use it again once you die."
Tirek angrily looked up at Scorpan, as the winged fighter raised his hand, pointing to the starry night sky.
"Look up to the heavens! From here, you can see the Star of Death!"

Tirek looked up at the Ursa Major Constellation, seeing the small star next to the "handle" shining brightly, as he was now startled.
Tirek: "Wh-What...?! The Star of Death is right above me!"
Rarity: "Impossible... it shines for both of them?!"
Celestia: "Scorpan's innate talent has brought the Star of Death upon Tirek. Even the gods cannot tell the outcome of this fatal confrontation...
Luna: "There's an old saying in the 1000-year-old history of Harmony, that when two powerful warriors fight, the Star of Death shines for both of them..."
Scorpan smiled at Tirek as the two stand off.
Scorpan: "Now... let us finally close this chapter, Tirek!"

I think it's an aqwesome image but one detail. If you are depicting the conflict between Scorpan and Tirek in the ancient times, Tirek should have GREY hair, you can see his looks in Celestia's book.

Okay. This is awesome in several ways. Allow me to list off three of 'em.
1) The plume of smoke coming from the volcano in the background. I'm not sure what technique you used, but it really looks rather wispy and ethereal around the edges, and the way it blends from a light shade to a deeper one makes it looks like it's taking on the hues of the environment.
2) Scorpan and Tirek's manes/hair/etic. The sheer lever of detail involved here--the multiple strands, the subtle gradations in hue that suggest a layered mass of hairs, and the distinctly fluid, messy look to both manes/beards/etc. is nothing short of masterful. I am in awe.
3) The simple fact that he drew Scorpan in a way that looks similar to how he might've actually appeared on the show. With nothing to work on but a highly-stylized picture from a flashback, you created a look for Scorpan that actually seems somewhat similar to Tirek--and thusly, how he might've looked if he'd appeared in the season finale.

The conflict between the two brothers draws some parallels to the Moon Exile incident between Celestia and Luna. I'm pretty sure that Scorpan will become the next tragic figure of the series. I mean, he already was back in G1, but, today, in the XXI century, it's going to be a new kind of perspective.
