Real debating is something majority of people have very little experience in. I've always love a good debate with my friends because we always talk about abstract ideas, philosophy, history, etc; but when I try to debate even a simple topic with other people it usually turns into them forcing their opinions down my throat whilst they ignore my own. Thats a little dramatized but I usually do just remain silent after I realize the other party has no interest in listening to what I have to say, evident by their constant interruptions. Then the conversation just turns into a rant of their own beliefs on the matter.
I once actually had a conversation with my friends on how debating should be taught in schools because at our school the "debates" we have in class are so one sided that no body really learns anything. They usually put me in a bad mood because everyone is so focused on merely proving the other is wrong.

One again your half-way right, yes debating is a great way to start critical thinking, however people should have this skill taught to them at a young age not how to follow orders like mindless being.

You won't believe how my teacher just blatantly said all this in class everyday, how our school brings others to slow down when they should be way ahead,ย how our rank is decided by a test we took in the 4th grade, and how they just want us to pass tests and make the school look good, I'm not joking either!
It's like Mark Twain said" I've never let my schooling interfere with my education" The only thing I even cared about at school were my friends and the relevant stuff I learned there ( Which only came from when the teachers went off subject and did the opposite of the systematic crap the call learning). Do not get me started on common core that just overkills our nations brains.
