"This, is the E-11! It is a weapon of terror! It is meant to frighten the enemy! This, is the DC-15! It is a weapon of war! It is designed to kill the enemy! Learn the difference! Recognize the difference! And respect the difference!" - Commander BL-1707 "Able" to a squad of New Republic Army Recruits circa 7 ABY.

The weapon of choice of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, the DC-15 blaster rifles were designed with the intent to counter droid based units in combat, and they did so to great effect. The rifles were commonly seen in the hands of the Clone Troopers and their forces during the Clone Wars and although more effective against droids, the blasters were still effective against organics. When the Empire rose to power, the newly named Stormtrooper Corps would continue using the rifles for the first few years until the cheaper E-11 Blaster Rifle was produced and soon replaced the DC-15 rifles. The rifles became Imperial surplus and were largely held in reserve for dealing with predominantly droid uprisings. The Rebellion would acquire some of these rifles from Imperial bases and outposts as well as several Clone War Era bases that had been abandoned. After the Galactic Civil War, many of these rifles found their way onto the general market and BlasTech made the rifles available for purchase for the first time ever. The 501st Legion, following their mass defection to the New Republic after the Battle of Jakku, discarded the unreliable E-11 Blaster Rifles and reverted to using DC-15 rifles until newer and better weapons could be made.

By 29 ABY, the DC-15 is still a popular blaster, favored by militaries and private groups alike. Mandalorian Bounty Huntress Ailyn Vel prefers a DC-15S Blaster Carbine and has a whole crate of them stored aboard her ship should she lose one or need to loan them out to others. Jedi Temple Guard Commander and Clone Wars Veteran BL-1707, "Able" is regularly seen with both a DC-15A and a DC-15S in a holster at his side as he patrols the temple grounds. The 501st Legion still uses DC-15 rifles, although largely in ceremonial roles while using Phase I or Phase II Clone Armor.

The rifle came in two versions: the DC-15A Rifle and the smaller DC-15S Carbine. The two rifles functioned identically but the rifle had more punch and could be mounted on a tripod for greater stability and firepower. The Carbine featured a folding stock much like it's successor, the E-11 would. Both rifles, like most of the Clone Army's weaponry, fired ionized bolts of plasma that, while deadly against organics, was doubly so for machinery. As the Separatists used droids to make up the vast bulk of their forces, the DC-15 rifles were the perfect choice for the Clone Army. However, the plasma ionizer that gives the plasma bolts their ion charge can be removed from the rifles and replaced with a plasma accelerator component which effectively inverts the rifle's effectiveness, making it where organics become much more devastated by the rifle as opposed to droids, without affecting the weapon's performance in other areas. This modification was relatively easy to make and many post-Clone Wars rifles found themselves modified accordingly.

Compared to its successor, the E-11, both the DC-15A and DC-15S had vastly superior accuracy, dependent strongly on the individual wielder's own control over the weapon. The DC-15 also came with an added bonus. Normally, aiming down he blaster's iron sights was good enough for most users, but for the Clone Troopers, their specialized Phase I and Phase II helmets featured a Head's-Up Display that could link up with their blaster and offer up more data regarding their targeting lines. Most Clones however were trained not to rely on these and most would turn these uplinks off, although some Clones took advantage of the displays. It's unknown just how effective the uplinks were versus relying on the iron sights.

In addition, both rifles feature a stun setting for rendering targets unconscious.

I was wondering if someone would get that reference. But damned if it wasn't one of O'Neill's (that's 2 Ls by the way ) best quotes. And he was 100% right about the staff weapons and P90s. One was an intimidation weapon, one was a killing weapon.
