Description
The Image above was acquired via Garry's ModThis is one of the ships from my Star Wars fanfiction series, Star Wars: The House of Rook which is part of my Shadow Wars Universe and is not to be considered canon outside of that universe.
Basically what I'm aiming for here is a modernized variant of the Ebon Hawk. If I had the skill to model or draw things, I would create the more visual comparison but really for a modernized variant, this model is fine. If you want a more accurate visual representation of what I want then check out this image by Wingzero-01-custom: www.deviantart.com/wingzero-01… This is basically what I'm aiming for, aesthetically.

"Flying from the pages of history but with a modern twist, be among the first in the galaxy to own a piece of the Republic's glimmering past in the modern day!" - Excerpt from the Corellian Engineering Corporation advertising pamphlet for the TOR-200-3 Light Freighter
Background
As part of a much larger design series planned to celebrate the 900th Anniversary of the Ruusan Reformation, Corellian Engineering Corporation dug deep into their databanks to dig up iconic starship models to advertise to modern customers. Among the designs they resurrected was the Dynamic-Class Light Freighter. The design was chosen explicitly to honor one of the Republic's greatest heroes from throughout its history, the Jedi Revan, who once owned a Dynamic-Class known as the Ebon Hawk nearly 4000 years prior. The modernized Dynamic-Class, designated as the TOR-200-3 Light Freighter would be released on the 900th Anniversary of the Reformation. It proved popular with freighter pilots and especially smugglers. Even the Jedi Order (who got a special discounted rate on the freighters as part of an agreement to help revive the Dynamic-Class's design) would utilize a few freighters of the class as loaner vessels for their members. By the time of the Clone Wars, only one remained on the Jedi Order's fleet inventory but was signed out regularly by a single Jedi who would later take the freighter and a Delta-7B Aethersprite with her upon her departure from the Jedi Order before the end of the War.
The TOR-200-3 earned the nickname the "Hawk-Class" explicitly after the Ebon Hawk, the most famous ship of the Dynamic-Class, the nickname catching on to the point that even company executives in Corellian Engineering Corp. would start referring to the model as the Hawk-Class. Other nicknames included "Ebon-Class," "Ebon Hawk-Class," and even the rarely used "Revan-Class" but Hawk-Class remained the most popular of the nicknames. The Hawk's popularity however would begin to wane with the release of the YT-1300 Light Freighter a little over 25-Years later. By the Galactic Civil War, the Hawks were dwindling in number, being replaced by the newer YT-1300 and even newer models, being considered a rare but recognizable sight in the galaxy. It is known that a few of the Rebellion's supporters would use Hawk-Class freighters.
The ships sold standard with a booklet highlighting the story of Revan, a book called "The Ebon Hawk: Revan's Journey" which was a watered down but mostly accurate retelling of Revan's story from his arrival on Taris during the Jedi Civil War to the defeat of Darth Malak aboard the Star Forge. The Jedi Council of the era was even invited to help provide their input on the booklets to maintain their accuracy. Eventually copies of the booklets would hit the markets, sparking a revived interest in the story of Revan and the events of the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil Wars. Eventually a three part book series highlighting Revan's story in more detail was released. The "Knights of the Old Republic" trilogy (which divided up Revan's story by conflict, specifically breaking them up into the Mandalorian Wars, The Jedi Civil War and Dark Wars, and finally his role during the Galactic Cold War) became a cultural phenomenon for roughly a decade or so and for a long time remained a popular classic series, spawning holofilms and holo-games. The Empire's "Commission for the Preservation of the New Order" (COMPNOR) would ban any Pre-Empire copies of the books, films, and games and would instead issue a revision of the history that remained true to the original but effectively demonized the Old Republic and extolled the Sith Empire, casting Darth Malak as an inept leader of the Sith Empire while Revan was cast as using the Republic for his own means to reclaim the title of Sith Lord. Fortunately though, copies of the Pre-Empire materials saturated the market beyond COMPNOR's abilities to tamper down on and the New Republic would later denounce the COMPNOR revisionist history version of the story. The story was often found in the possession of Rebel Historians as part of their efforts to prevent history from being erased or revised by the Empire. Since the rise of the New Republic, the "Knights of the Old Republic" series has seen renewed popularity.
It should be noted that the original developers of the Dynamic-Class was a subsidiary of Core Galaxy Systems. CGS was eventually absorbed by Kuat Drive Yards around 500 BBY but the subsidiary that manufactured the Dynamic-Class was purchased (along with all of its designs including the Dynamic) was purchased by Corellian Engineering Corporation.
Technical Information
The Hawk-Class was not a 1 for 1 reproduction of the classic Dynamic-Class using modernized techniques and construction and was deliberately billed as a remade version of the Dynamic-Class. It did enjoy a strong aesthetic similarity however but boasted several advantages and improvements over the classic original. While the Hawk-Class was purportedly released to celebrate the nonacentennial of the Ruusan Reformation, CEC had secretly decided to use the versatile Dynamic-Class as a test bed for innovative new design features for future ship models, namely its sublight drives among other features, many of which would find their way to the future YT-1300 series freighters. After the Galactic Civil War and with the rising popularity of the Millennium Falcon skyrocketing the YT-1300 back into the limelight, some ship historians have mused that the Dynamic-Class ended up becoming the technical ancestor to the modern YT-1300.
The biggest difference, and the biggest key aesthetic difference, between the Dynamic and the Hawk was its sublight engines. Instead of the two sublight drives common to the Dynamic-Class, the Hawks used the saucer-styled sublight engines that would be used on the YT-Series freighters. The Hawk-Class is considered as having been the test-bed for these newer styled engines. Some would retrofit these engines to use the twin engine design to make them more strongly resemble the Dynamic-Class but most would keep the default drives for their speed.
Internally the layout of the Hawk-Class, while similar to the Dynamic-Class, had some noticeable differences. The hallway connecting the main-hold to the engine-room and cargo-holds has been reworked. The central turrets now have a centralized "turret shaft" connecting them as opposed to only a single ladder for a dorsal mounted turret, with the hallway connecting the engine room and main-hold going around this shaft, another feature that would be utilized by the later YT-1300 model. The entrance to the medical bay opens directly to the main-hold as opposed to the corridor. The engine-room was expanded to allow for greater access to the engines for maintenance/repairs. The cargo-bay sizes remained unaffected and unchanged between designs. The passenger/crew cabins were expanded, effectively doubling the number of crew/passengers the Hawks can carry. This number can be increased however if the cargo bays are adapted for passenger transport.
In terms of armament, the Hawk-Class is default armed with the same armaments as the Dynamic save one exception. Instead of only a single dorsal turret, a ventral turret was added, giving the Hawks a full three-hundred-sixty degrees of turret coverage. The side-laser cannons were often controlled by the pilot, allowing fighter pilots to more easily adapt to the freighter's controls in a combat situation. The turrets often needed to be manned but many pilots would add a feature that locked the turrets to the forward position for additional forward firepower or adding an auto-targeting feature. Sometimes the turrets would be linked to the control of the co-pilot. During the Empire, these weapons often had to be removed as armed civilian owned starships were considered illegal. However most pilots would hide the weapons in secret compartments. More brazen pilots, mostly smugglers, would flaunt the regulations.
Perhaps the most innovative change to the Hawk-Class from its Dynamic-class template was putting the empty space between the central and port "prongs" to use. The "Utility Space" as it was called, was modified with magnetized grapplers, allowing the Hawks to carry cargo containers too large to fit in the main-hold. This feature would be replicated on the YT-1300 model with the two forward prongs. Some Hawk owners got creative with this and put together an additional internal space that would fill this space, using the area as additional passenger/cargo space. A "brig" module would sometimes be crafted for these ships. One such example was a Hawk owned by a Bounty Hunter who specially rigged a brig module for this open space and would use this detachable space to carry his captives. However due to the increased drag and power requirements brought by using this space for custom modules, few Hawk owners ever used this space for anything more than cargo hauling and even then on rare occasions for short-range cargo hauls.
